First Hockey Post!

Post by Falcon Fanatic »

Had to jump in there and make the first hockey post on the new site!! Hockey is going to rock this year!!!!! Saturday is the 11th Annual Alumni-Community Golf Outing. Quite a few alumni hockey players are coming back for this event. It's the one event in the summer that tides me over until the season starts!!!
"Regarding BGSU, I would think their biggest strength is that they never give up, They never slow down and they battle hard even after the other team scores. We have to be on our game and never, ever take the foot off the gas for a second."

"BG was relentless. It's like they know that a good first pass on the breakout from a defenseman will almost always result in an odd-man rush against them - but they go in anyway and dare you to make that pass. All three of their goals were just grit and effort. That's a team any fan can be proud to support...they give all they've got."

Really looking forward to FALCON Hockey this year. I firmly believe that we are in position to make some serious noise in the CCHA in 2004/05. Lots of good young talent and one of the BEST goalies in all of D1 hockey. I anticipate lots of chat on this board real soon.....

What The?

Post by FlagCityFalcon »

I go away for 4 days to meet the next Cole(ton) - my first son (7/20/04) and come back to a new ay-ziggy-zooma site? I'm truely confused, but the site looks awsome!

I just got done watching the 2001 HBO special "Do You Believe In Miracles?" about the gold medal 1980 team. I was getting pumped for BG hockey...yes, with kickoff 6 weeks away, I was getting pumped for hockey as well! The Falcons are going to do some damage this year on the Ice...only a matter of time before Paluch and the Boys get BG hockey back where is should be! Josh looked at me and said "Dad? Are you gonna take Jake and I to some hockey games again?" I replied "Do the rockettes stink???" The Falcon lad had his answer. They really have no chance of becoming fans of any other school.
My plan is working....MWAHAHAHAHAHA!!

C ya real soon!

GO FALCON HOCKEY!!

No, it's Dylan (although it occured to me shortly after his birth how cool that would have been!). I don't think his mother would have gone for that!

Freak -- Did you see Miracle? Michelle and I got the DVD and I've watched that thing several times. I even ordered a DVD off eBay of the actual game against the USSR in 1980. Sure is great seeing BG's own Mark Wells and Ken Morrow kick some butt.

what's the skinny on the bg team this year? you guys serious about improving? i'm guessing we'll be middle of the pack, maybe better, but with losing the three guys we did including last year's ccha poy (derek edwardson), we have some scoring to make up for. unfortunately, michigan looks like they will have one of their best teams ever this year with montoya deciding to return. state should be good too with jim slater returning. ugh...

i'd say miami, osu, notre dame will fight for 3 through 5 unless you guys are thinking you'll be in the mix too.

BG 2004-2005

BG will be solid in goal with Jordan Sigalet. Opponents will have to hold us under 2 to win. Our returning forwards will be coached to shoot more, and that will make a huge difference. God only knows why they've been so reluctant to shoot. The loss of Bieksa on defense will be a big skate to fill; Jon Sitko will keep a few guys plastered on the boards, and Jonathan Sigalet is beginning to fill out and will be more physical, complementing his fine sense of what needs to be done during a game. Something like 9 new players will be fighting to make the team, and they all have decent to great credentials and potential to make an impact as freshmen, but one never knows how a kid will handle college hockey, college life, and college academics. We've been told by the strength and conditioning coach that most of the players were around through the summer, and this is the strongest Falcon team ever. This may be the thing that will jump the team up to the top half of the conference. There were an awful lot of ties and one-goal losses last year. Maybe just having that extra bit of fuel in the tank in the third period will change those type of games to victories this season.
All is for the best in this best of all possible worlds.

Way to go, BGBill!!

Post by Falcon Fanatic »

Great Post, BGBill!! You said it all and said it very well! Fighting for a spot on the roster will be huge this year. I believe you can only carry 27 on the roster (as per NCAA) and I think we have 31 right now.....

We talked with the coaches tonight and they are pretty excited about the kids who are coming in, along with the verbals they are getting for next year and the one for the year after that!!! Things are going to get pretty exciting around the rink this year...COUNT ON IT!!!!

HOCKEY ROCKS!!!
