CBS Rankings (for whatever its worth)

Post by Sidejudge »

According to CBS Sports, Missouri is 31st in the country and BG is ranked 65th (two behind Central Michigan). It does show that Mizzou's Strength of Schedule is rated as the 19th toughest and BG's SOS as the 22nd toughest in the country.

That SOS is questionable. We have the 22 ranked schedule but Troy has the 100 ranked schedule while playing Arkansas and Florida. Is the MAC that respected? (or is the Sun Belt that disrespected?) I just can't see how playing BG, Florida, UAB, Arkansas, and a bunch of Sun Belt teams is 78 rankings easier than playing Troy, Mizzou, Marshall, Boise State, and a bunch of MAC teams.

Actually it says that SOS is based on games played to date. Which is really insane to even be listing it after one or two games played. And even then that doesn't make sense since LA-Monroe has played one game against # 2 Texas but their SOS is 95.

This conversation would be less frustrating if the championship was actually decided on the field, or at least the teams that played for it.

FWIW, we were ranked 70th at the start of the season. 65th puts us pretty much right in the middle of 1-A.

One thing's for certain, we'll be moving way up, and probably getting votes in the polls, if we take down Missouri in Columbia this weekend. Especially since Missouri is now ranked at #25.

Unfortunately, "Clucko" (the "expert" that picked BG) is a simulated chicken (I think they actually flip a coin) to help prove that their other experts are not that bright.

Is that nepotism when one bird picks another?
