Re: Week 2 MAC Predictions
You mean I picked 10 games right?! I thought I don't know anything about football boys
So this week I will go with Colorado, Pitt, Western, Northwestern, MSU, Akron, BC, Missouri (sorry), N. TX, Ball State, NIU & Boise State.
I hope I am wrong on the BG game though. Really, I do.

No prob! Sometimes I need a kick in the ass to get something done ... feel free in the future to take point on this if you wish.JH5 wrote:Sorry MarkL if you like to do this, I'm kind of new to the board.
Colorado @ Toledo
Colorado looked pretty pathetic against CSU, but as I pointed out before, this is like XU-UC in basketball. Colorado is better than they showed. I saw Toledo in person last week carve up the Boilermaker defense like Thanksgiving turkey, but that was largely because Purdue ran a very soft zone coverage and never adjusted. Colorado's coaches are smart enough to make adjustments. Toledo's defense is not too good. Colorado by two possessions.
Pittsburgh @ Buffalo
Pitt is a solid team. Buffalo is badly rebuilding and showed it against UTEP. Yeah they won, but it wasn't pretty. I'm predicting Pitt to just pound them all day long, win the LOS on both sides. Pitt will NOT lose to 2 MAC teams in 2 years. Pitt big.
WMU @ Indiana
WMU disappointed last week. It's hard gauging teams after week 1, but I expected WMU to at least compete on offense. Indiana battled with a very good EKU team last week and won closer than they should have. IU finished 0-2 vs. MAC teams last week. I'll give WMU the benefit of the doubt and say that Michigan was that good and they are better than they showed. WMU wins an upset.
EMU @ Northwestern
I would love to see an upset but this one isn't happening. Northwestern is on the way up and I think will do as well as they can in the Big 10 given their program limitations (GPA requirements, school size ...). Northwestern big.
CMU @ Michigan State
Michigan State wiped out an awful Montana State team last week. CMU has been pretty pathetic against BCS teams, but their last two showings have been better (beat IU last year, played a good solid game vs. Arizona last week). The loss to Arizona does not tell much new about either team and Mich St's big win over Mont St doesn't say much for the Spartans either (too many MSU's). Head says Michigan State small, gut says Michigan State big. I'll go with the gut - big win for MSU.
Morgan State @ Akron
Akron is going to be high on their new stadium. Nobody expected them to compete with Penn State, so a blowout says nothing we didn't already know. Akron is definitely a MAC competitor this year with a pretty solid offense. Akron big.
Kent State @ Boston College
Kent got a shutout last week over Coastal Carolina. BC got a bigger shutout over Northeastern. BC big.
BG @ Mizzou
I am going to refrain from picking on this one. I'm normally not superstitious, but I used this tactic against Pitt last year and it worked. I'll just say my thoughts. Mizzou is like Troy in so many aspects, just much much better. They have seen our game film and know what we are capable of, and vice versa. I am going to keep my prediction to myself, so feel free to put one in the negative column for my record as an abstain vote.
Ohio @ North Texas
UNT looks like the surprise team out of the Sun Belt ... so far. Hard to analyze after week 1, but their God-awful defense from last year held a high scoring BSU offense from last year to 10 points. Is UNT that much of a surprise team or is BSU just that bad this year? Ohio couldn't keep up with Connecticut but at least they played well. UNT by two possessions.
New Hampshire @ Ball State
BSU stunk it up wast week and only scored 10 on UNT. See above, not sure who to credit in that one. Either way ... I expect things will go better this week. BSU big.
Western Illinois @ Northern Illinois
NIU put on a great showing at Wisconsin last week, though I think Wisconsin has the makings of the Big 10's biggest disappointment unless Iowa steals that from them (Northern Iowa is a very good D1AA team). NIU so far looks to be the best team in the MAC West, but again hard to analyze after week 1. NIU big.
Miami @ Boise State
Miami got shut out at "home" by UK. Boise is better and is playing on the smurf turf. So far, Miami looks incompetent and I don't expect that to change anytime soon. Boise big.
Sorry for the long post but I like to offer some analysis and justification ... even if I'm totally off the mark.

Re: Week 2 MAC Predictions
I'll get in on this:
Colorado @ Toledo - Toledo - The Rockets usually play well at home, and their offense will play extremely well in this game, and their horrible defense will do just enough to get the win.
Pittsburgh @ Buffalo - Pittsburgh - I don't think Da Bulls can win this one totally one dimensional through the air, Pitts stout D will keep the Panthers within reach and they'll win a close one.
WMU @ Indiana - Western Michigan - Is Michigan better or has WMU taken a step back? We'll see after this game, I'm taking WMU to beat a bad Indiana squad.
EMU @ Northwestern - Northwestern - EMU blows. The Wildkitties by 4 touchdowns or more.
CMU @ Michigan State - Michigan State - This is a game that CMU might have a shot in, but they just don't win OOC games against BCS teams. That won't change in Sparta this weekend.
Morgan State @ Akron - Akron - Infocision Stadium gets christened with a big victory, albeit against a I-AA school.
Kent State @ Boston College - Boston College - Kent State is horrible. They could get shut out in this game.
BG @ Mizzou - Missouri - I'm really on the fence on this one. I think the game's going to hard fought and really close, but I'm sticking with the Tigers to win at home. Obviously I hope I'm wrong.
Ohio @ North Texas - Ohio - I think the Bobcats are the 3rd best team in the East, and they'll put up a good performance this Saturday against UNT
New Hampshire @ Ball State - Ball State - The Cardinals can't be THAT bad...could they??
Western Illinois @ Northern Illinois - Northern Illinois - NIU looked like the best team in the West this past weekend, and they're going to be pretty solid I think. NIU wins this one big.
Miami @ Boise State - Boise State - Miami should be proud if they even get on the scoreboard in this game. I say they're in for a lot of pain on the smurf turf.
