Michigan in the top 25, Mizzou out
Michigan in the top 25, Mizzou out
New AP poll has Mizzou and ND out and Michigan in at 25. Also of note - Boise is 10. And BYU is 7, so two non BCS teams in the top 10 with TCU at 15, Utah at 18, and Houston at 21. And no MAC teams are 2-0, so clearly no MAC team is sniffing any votes right now. We beat Marshall and Boise and I bet we get some votes at 3-1 with an upset over top 10 Boise, as long as Boise doesn't lose to Fresno next week.

Until more MAC teams beat ranked teams or teams that are close to being ranked it will be hard for any of the school to receive any votes.
That being said though, if BG beats Marshall (which we should), and we beat Boise then we should get at least a vote.
This year as of now has major potential for a non-BCS team to get into the championship or at least a major bowl with BYU, because let's be honest BG is going to beat Boise!!
GO FALCONS!!!!

Well, if beating a MAC school means the winning school drops out of the Top 25, I think we have a pretty good indicator of the kind of love the MAC can expect from the pollsters this season.
Re: Michigan in the top 25, Mizzou out
so would top 10 Boise St be the highest rated team to enter Doyt?
Re: Michigan in the top 25, Mizzou out
We aren't as good as many people thought we were. If we played the same game and beat Baylor (a pretty good team), the results would have been the same. We barely made it into the poll last week. It's easy to slide back when you don't dominate again when it was probably only a few sports writers ranking us higher than 25 that got us in to begin with.ab1994 wrote:Well, if beating a MAC school means the winning school drops out of the Top 25, I think we have a pretty good indicator of the kind of love the MAC can expect from the pollsters this season.
Re: Michigan in the top 25, Mizzou out
This is total rambullony! The MAC continues to lack the respect it deserves! I think we played a darn good Mizzou team to the wire and regardless of the ars whooping that Troy took against Florida, were a good team ready to play anybody at anytime.
I just don't understand the bias against MAC teams. When a Central Michigan goes into MState and competes on all levels, its just a terribly bad team that played against the lowly MAC squad! The parody gap is closing and more players are starting get to the smaller schools! As long as the MWC represents for the other Non-BCS conferences, we'll get the chance to see the BG's, Fresno's CSU's (biased choice of course), Utah's, TCU's, BYU's show that all 120 teams deserve a shot at getting to the big dance minus the limitations and parameters set by the money moguls that have a stake in the only few conferences designated to go to the big dance.
I think the underdog characteristic is sexy and more individuals are getting off the bandwagon schema to go local! MWC is a big indicator of that with the wins against the BCS squads lately! If we (MWC) bring in Boise and or Fresno from the WAC, we could increase the legitimacy of one more conference to an auto bid. The problem that I have with this is the fact that this doesn't solve the problem for the other great quality teams in getting in; BGSU, Fresno, Troy, Boise (unless their accepted into the MWC)...heck, I love all the underdogs!

My post was in jest, but I agree, you probably would have dropped out for only beating any unranked team by a TD.mutiger91 wrote:We aren't as good as many people thought we were. As a Tiger fan and the husband of a BGSU alum, this really frosts my shorts. The disrespect is shows the Falcons is just as annoying as the disrespect it shows the Tigers.
The good news is, by the middle of the season, it will all be forgotten if both teams keep their heads down and do the work in front of them. If you guys take it to Boise State (which I think you can) and we beat Nebraska (which I think we can) we'll both be where we belong in the polls.

Re: Michigan in the top 25, Mizzou out
I think it showed MU isn't as hot as the hype. I think people look at it as about the same as if BGSU had finished them off. They know BGSU should have won the game, in that way people look at these things after the fact. The chance slipped away, and that is too bad. Had BGSU won, MU would have dropped out anyway. Too much can be written into MU dropping out from the BGSU point of view.

LMFAO at Bowling Green "Should" have won the game. The last 1 1/2 Quarters was exactly the way the game should have been played out. Missouri dominated the game from that point on. In fact it was complete domination after BG opened the 2nd half with a TD. Bowling Green is a fine MAC Team, but they are NOT better than Missouri. Be happy you played Gabbert while his is young QB.

In all seriousness, from all indications I have gathered, MU won that game based on depth, not the quality of the 'team' or game plan. I don't mean to take anything away from the Tigers by saying that, but to come here nearly a week after the fact and "LYFAO at Bowling Green" is pretty friggin' stupid, no matter how the game happened to turn out. I'm certainly not bitter about this game, and I'm really proud of how our team, and especially our young defense, held up against a very talented Mizzou team. I wish we could have hung on, but there is no shame in admitting that Mizzou does have talent, and that they are bigger, deeper, and on the whole more experienced on the defensive side of the ball than our Falcons are. All of that considered, I think BG's performance last Saturday speaks very well of the quality of our TEAM, and I am excited to see where this program goes under Clawson because of it.
And what the hell does the youth of your quarterback have to do with the quality of your team right now? I'm LMFAO at that.

That can have a pretty dramatic affect on fertility as I understand it. I had my shorts frosted (also my beard, cheeks [both sets] and digits) at the NIU game a few years back- very uncomfortable. I keep one of those heat packs in my shorts now and they don't frost anymore.

Let me just take a minute to "LMAO" at the person who said Mizzou would "bomb" BG and said "it will not be close."mutiger wrote:LMFAO at Bowling Green "Should" have won the game. You were right for half the game, though. It wasn't close. BG dominated the first half. Yeah, Mizzou eventually took advantage of a tiring BGSU team and won the game, but don't get it confused, pal.
Enjoy the rest of your season. I know you're a Missouri fan, but you've got to have at least one hobby other than trolling on the message boards of other teams... right?
