BG attendance at Marshall
Do you guys travel any better now than you did back when we were in the MAC, or can we expect there to be about 50 of you there like back in the day?

We usually travel pretty well nowadays. Just hard to get people who actually want to go to West Virginia......know what I mean?

No, I didnt know that, I was always under the impression you were traveling to watch your team play...was I wrong....
And what is "usually travel pretty well"
How many people do you expect.

Re: BG attendance at Marshall
I think some of us are more concerned with how the game on the field is going to go than the number of BG fans in the stands. How well represented a team is in terms of number of their fans at their away games has almost nothing to do with how good a team is or how devoted their fans are. At the end of the day, it matters very little. Except of course to people like you who don't have much to do other than feel like Billy-Bad-Azz trying to stir the pot on a message board. Honestly, it's really just pathetic and reflects extremely poorly on the program you purport to be a fan of.Aaron wrote:No, I didnt know that, I was always under the impression you were traveling to watch your team play...was I wrong....

Re: BG attendance at Marshall
If it helps, I'd estimate about 20-30 people at the Mizzou game. That's the first away game out-of-state I've been to, so I wouldn't know anything about our history of attendance.
Upwards of 30-40 seems like a good guess. It's not a big-name school like the Boise and Mizzou games (no offense), but it seems close enough for a good crowd to get out and support the team.
Regardless of the size, I'm always happy to see support from dedicated fans.

So, let me get this straight?
1. Road Travel is NOT indicative of the support a team has?
2. You had 20 - 30 people at Mizzou and expect 50 this week.
Really???
Tell me you are kidding on both accounts.

Re: BG attendance at Marshall
Let's see, you managed to read both of those wrong. What I said was that the number of fans a team draws on the road is not a measure of how good the team is or their fan's devotion to that team.Aaron wrote:So, let me get this straight?

And Zig estimated 30-40, not 50.
Try again.

How did I misread the first part.
You are saying that road travel basically, if bad, does not mean that the support of the team is bad....
and sorry on the estimate that he had stated, I rounded up, and didnt go back and reread first.
But, it sounds like that you said what I thought you said...that is FUNNY..

Like I said, it was the first out-of-state game I've been to, so take it with a grain of salt.Aaron wrote:So, let me get this straight?

Mizzou is like a 10 hour drive from BG, so I wasn't expecting much from that. Marshall is a bit closer, so we'll see how this one works out. Maybe someone else will chime in on it...

Don't you worry -- there will be enough of us there to have a raucous celebration at 10:30 or so Saturday night.
Re: BG attendance at Marshall
Your interpretation of what I said is still wrong. Put it this way. I won't be at the Marshall game. This does not, however, mean that those BG fans who are have any stronger love or devotion to the team than I do. Now multiply that out from an individual level to a bigger level. Simply because a given team doesn't have a ton of fans in the stands at an away game does not mean that that team's fans don't support the team. Sorry if the concept is too complicated for you to grasp.Aaron wrote:How did I misread the first part.

I think the problem is you are using too many words, the more you use the less he understandsYdfalcon wrote:Your interpretation of what I said is still wrong. Put it this way. Re: BG attendance at Marshall
I am going along with 5 others, for my first trip back to Marshall in more than 10 years. Huntington is not really the garden spot of the US that I like to travel to, but our trips are limited this year and I have been to Mizzou for two previous games. On previous trip(s) we have been treated like $hit by Herd fans, and there is NO place worth a damn to stay in, on or around Huntington. Oh well, were loading up, and heading down Saturday am, to see if anything has changed, and to party after the FALCON victory Saturday night!!
