BG Athletics Twitter feed just pointed me to a pretty cool feature on the website. They are doing a remembrance, game by game, of the 1959 season.

Perhaps extra interesting is the team we played this week 50 years ago. On this exact date, (Sept. 16) in 1959, BG traveled to Huntington and beat down the Herd 51-7.

Re: 1959 Remembered
I've read all the game articles from the BG News for this season. Each one is more awesome than the last. Wait until they get to the Miami(OH) game... it's a doozy.
Seriously, I hope all the "No offense to Doyt..." types from the "greatest game" threads read this series.

Re: 1959 Remembered
As one of the few, perhaps Only, member of this "crew" to have actually been on campus during this season, I can say that the Delaware game had the biggest impact...I'd compare it, in fact, to the upcoming Boise game.
Delaware and BG were one-two in the country coming into this game, but BG handed the Blue Hens a thorough trouncing. I'm proud to say I went to school with a lot of these guys...it was our Jr. year...Bernie Casey and Chuck Comer lived down the hall from me at Shatzel....(yes, it WAS a dorm then, just as Williams Hall was.) I still think this was a year that this team could've beaten OSU, which, as I recall, was very ordinary that year.

From today's installment, this might be the greatest BGSU athletics picture ever taken...

The only one I can think of that's close is the 1984 hockey celebration where Kruzich's stick is hanging in mid-air.

You know, I've never seen a credit on that photo... wonder who took it? It really is phenomenal.
And... today is the first time I noticed the construction of Memorial Hall in the background! In fact, I can see section L, row 7, seat one in that photo! A-MA-ZING photo!

Take a look at my 1960 yearbook, and you'll see it.... but Grant, I'm not sure if any pix were credited then.drumstix2388 wrote:Brilliant picture...i wonder why i've never seen that beforeTG1996 wrote:From today's installment, this might be the greatest BGSU athletics picture ever taken...
