AKRON, Ohio (AP) -- Suspended Akron starting quarterback Chris Jacquemain has been removed from the team for the remainder of the season.
Zips coach J.D. Brookhart suspended Jacquemain for last Saturday's game against Indiana for violating team policy. On Wednesday, Brookhart said Jacquemain will not return but will remain on scholarship. Jacquemain apologized in a statement for his actions and said he will concentrate on getting his degree.
Also, assistant coach Reno Ferri was placed on administrative leave and suspended with pay pending an internal review of NCAA compliance requirements.
Akron plays Central Michigan on Saturday.

They've probably had better days in Akron. Wow, that's a lot of bad news at one time.

Also a defensive lineman for assaulting some guy and fracturing his face.

As someone on the MAC board pointed out, the timing of this is so bad. There was a lot of enthusiasm surrounding the team with the opening of their excellent stadium and now all this.

at least they are not falling prey to any of that pressure, and are keeping the bar decency and common sense actions in the same place. That to me is a far better recruiting tool.

If there were one statement that expressed the need for a sarcasm font, this would be it.MACMAN wrote:at least they are not falling prey to any of that pressure, and are keeping the bar decency and common sense actions in the same place. That to me is a far better recruiting tool.

I once worked with a young dad who was trying to get custody of his daughter. During the course of our contact he was cleaning a shotgun and accidentally shot himself in the head, barely surviving. When he told me of the incident I said "What terrible timing-right when you're trying to get your daughter back". He responded in his thick North Carolina drawl "Mr. Bruns, let me tell you, there just ain't no such thing as a good time to shoot yourself in the head with a shotgun." That story seems to apply here.
