That's not true, there's more talk for this game than there has been for any other game in my four years. Everyone is excited for it.

We (students) are excited, but like it was said earlier, students would be a lot more excited if we wouldn't have lost to Marshall.....they understand losing to Mizzou, but losing to Marshall just makes most kids go "great, we suck again!".

I don't think the university ever resells them.
Yes, this is the policy.

Did Boise dispatch any of their allotment back, or do we not provide a section of tickets to them?

Yeah I feel a stronger student buzz towards this game than any since I've been here (this being my fourth year). All of my friends are going, but then again we're the morons who also stuck out the whole 2006 Miami mud debacle.

From their turnout, I don't think they had any to return. There were Boise State fans easily visible all over the stadium.

Can someone explain how the 22k and change is considered a sellout. Was it because of the bands? Do they take through the gates or tickets sold as the final number?

Why did they schedule bands for this game? What rubber-neck books bloody bands for a game that was almost certain to be a massive event? A thousand tickets, and do I think all those kids actually paid for those? I'm all for those things, but wow, that is the kind of afterthought promotion you pull for a dog of a team coming to Doyt L. Perry Stadium.

I don't know if it was done for the Troy game as well, but they did put some temporary bleachers behind the south endzone to seat some of the bands. I was relieved to see that, because I thought they were going to put them all in the east/west stands.

You don't do if for the opening game on a Thursday. You don't do it for homecoming. Family Weekend/Parents weekend is pushing it. You don't do it on other Thursday or Friday night games. That left the Boise game. What a great way to sell your university to high school students. Jam packed stadium. Nationally ranked team. If I was amongst the 1000 high school students there, I would now consider BG.

I'm aware it amounts to a recruiting gig in some regards, maybe Transfer can share if there was any actual effort to leverage their being at BGSU towards that purpose. IE: were recruiting packets provided, will any follow-up come of it, or were they just there to be there. I'm very sure the kids had a good time, it was exciting out there. But I think they'd likely have enjoy most any game anyway. Having more prospective ticket buyers would have helped the program more.

In any case, we are talking band kids....do we really want more of those creepy types at BGSU? :D

Hey!! I resemble that remark. And I will be sure to let your wife know you said it so she can hit you upside the head. :-D

I posted in another forum that this was the only game to have the high school bands participate in. I don't know about "recruiting packets" but that is a great idea. However, looking at the numbers, if the band kids weren't there I don't think the attendance would have topped 22,000. I would love to have someone explain to me how 22396 is considered a "sell out" when the media guide states the stadium capacity is 24000. My calculator tells me that is 1604 SHORT of a sell out! Are we using Elsasser math?!?!?

I'm guessing that we were short of 24k for a few reasons, but it all depends on which way we are counting attendance.
  • Apparently there were scalpers outside the stadium, so maybe some of those didn't sell.
  • The band had to put their instruments somewhere, so 1 band kid might take up 2 seats.
  • The student's section was not full. I was in the top row and the 3 rows below me had plenty of empties. Either OSU/UM kept students away, or needing a ticket did.
  • Were the banks counted in that total? Maybe we had about 800+ band kids there, so that would make up for the difference.
  • Were we expecting more high school bands that simply couldn't afford to spend the money and travel to this game? If so, seats may have been reserved for them and they weren't used.
Again, all possibilities.

Are we seriously bitching about this game being called a sellout??? We put over 22,000 AZZES in the stands for this game! If we win the MAC this year, I could see that happening at EVERY home game next season!!! We are UNDEFEATED in MAC play right now...let's keep it that way!!! BEAT OHIO!
