Nice...I wonder how stiff the buy out provisions are....

Re: News on the horizon...
I think Christopher jumped the gun a little on this one. Orr's got two years left on his current deal. He's had one bad season and one good. Why not wait until after this season to get a better read on the situation? And, I know the recruiting excuse..but waiting until this spring to give him an extention isn't going to hurt recruiting one bit.
Don't get me wrong, I think Orr has done some good things and is a man of integrity. But none of us really know if he is the one to lead this program long term. Not sure what kind of recruiter he is? Not sure what kind of "big game" coach he is? Not sure if he just produces good, competitive teams (like he did at Seton Hall), or he's capable of winning championships and taking this progam to the next level...or two?
Gary Waters won championships at Kent and Cleveland State (I know Rutgers was different situation). Not sure if Coach Orr is on that same level?
At least he now has a little more time here at BG to prove it.

Re: News on the horizon...
I'm pretty excited about the news for both men's and women's teams. I think Mr. Orr has done a quality job his first two years at BG, and can't wait to see how he does with recruiting (especially with a new arena being built), and coming off a MAC regular season title. I definitly would not say he had a bad first season here with a 14-17 overall record. It wasn't great, but last season going 20-14 showed a lot of promise and a few of those losses very well could have been wins. I think Bowling Green has a bright future the next few years and I expect to see a MAC tournament championship with Orr. I'm not quite sure what to expect this year losing some great players, but hopefully we don't miss a step, because I feel this program is on the up!

Re: News on the horizon...
I guess the official record is 19-14 not 20, before someone gets me on that!
Re: News on the horizon...
Salary?
Is BG going to release salaries for either BB coach?

They are public record and shouldn't be too difficult to find out if you really wanted to know whether BGSU issues a press release or not.MacGuy wrote:Salary?

Personally I'm a fan of Orr and happy about the extension. He seems to have a love for his players that they share for him. He gets them to compete on defense and they mix things up between the zone and man pretty well. That commitment to defense allows us to win games even when we aren't the most talented team on the floor. Time will tell how his recruiting goes, but it seems like some of the guys we've got coming in are highly thought of. If he ever gets a PG that can run the offense he wants to run I think everybody will be in love with this extension.
Re: News on the horizon...
Coach Orr has a proven track record in his previous coaching stops, so a two year extension is not going out on a limb here. Before anyone starts yakking that he was fired from Seton Hall, it was for philosophical (sp?) reasons, not coaching. Now, if we could only get him to run the motion offense...
