...an All MAC safety today to stop them from throwing over the top all day or stepping up helping play the run. Thanks PJ Mahone!
We left way too many points on the field in the first half. I love Freddie Barnes' heart but his drops at key points in the game are killing this team.
Thought for sure we'd see Freddie in the "wildcat" formation on 4th and 1 on that last play. Still had a timeout and over a minute on the clock. No need to go to the end zone there. Would have lisked to see us run the ball in that situation.
With seniors at the skills positions this team might be in rebuild mode now?

I totally agree on both accounts!! I can't believe we went for the touchdown instead of picking up the first down. Everyone around me in the stands felt the same way. HUGE disappointment.Rollo83 wrote:

I also can't believe we gave up so many big plays to the Bobcats on third down.
And then depression set in...

Special Teams still rides the short bus. I would make them run until about Wednesday.
Our D-Line got manhandled today. Troy was an anomaly. The D overall was completely uninspired.
If you can touch the ball, you "can" catch it. If the ball hits you on the numbers or directly into both hands you better - by GAWD - catch the freaking thing.
Tyler locks on a receiver. Perhaps it's love. I think it time to give some of the other QBs a shot.
It's going to be a long season, Falcon fans. There is a culture with this team and it's going to take some time for the coaches to change it.

Guess you guys had a bad angle on that one because we didn't go to the end zone. Barnes was on a quick slant and the ball hit him about the five and then after the OU defender batted it up, Barnes ended up in the end zone with a chance to catch it. But the call was not a play into the end zone.Rollo83 wrote:No need to go to the end zone there.

4th and inches. RB sweep? NO! Shotgun pass? NO! QB sneak it for crying out loud

Wasn't 4th and inches either. Had to get to the 12 for a first down and the ball was spotted just inside the 14. So I would call it 4th and 2.MarkL wrote:4th and inches.
Did you want another run that gets stuffed like the previous fourth down play?

I was in the ned zone at the south end-gotta go with Warthog's assessment there. BG had a couple yards to get for first-the way Sheehan was running he might have made it but the pass should have been caught. Pass was at about the two although it was nearly intercepted, then your receiver had about four chances to grab it and ended up near the back of the endzone when it finally dropped. Exciting finish for sure.

...officials that recognize when a jersey is being pulled to look like Silly Putty is holding and when someone gets pancaked by an opposing player placing both hands on the back numbers and pushing. I'm not upset because these types of blantant fouls that a blind man with glass eyes could see happened on OU scoring plays or plays to set up OU scores.

Re: We could have used...
OU blitzed from Tyler's left on our last play...the guy was untouched. If Tyler doesn't make the throw he did, when he did, he would have landed over by Myle's pizza. He had no room to run...no chance to roll out. He either makes the quick throw to his primary or he's meat.
Freddie is frustrating as hell to watch. He makes the the great play and then he drops THE pass of the game....
Agree totally with rightupinthere's take on the "culture" on this team....we SUCK in the 4th qtr....just as badly as we did last year.
And I don't think missing Mahone was that big of a deal. Morgan played pretty well in spots...I don't think it was his job to contain Scott on that 3rd and 1 option that went for six. He damn near caught him though.

Re: We could have used...
...stickum. How many terrible plays were there by receivers? That was disgusting. We left a lot of points on the field. On our second field goal, we had two passes dropped in the end zone. I felt like leaving then, or walking down to the field level to tell the coach to put me in to catch the passes. Our only reliable receiver was Jimmy Schiedler. It is sad when your only reliable receiver is your tight end.
Thankfully, I won't have to attend a BGSU home game for a little while. Maybe by the time the Akron game rolls around, I'll feel like showing up again to watch s**t on a shingle.
Don't get me wrong, we had quite a few bright spots, but way too many dull moments.

Re: We could have used...
Is anyone going to mention the horribly underthrown pass on the reverse out of the wildcat? Assuming he would have caught it, that was a sure 6.

Again, points left on the field. How about the pass Barnes threw out of the wildcat when he threw it behind and short. His pass reminded me why he isn't the QB anymore.Falcon137 wrote:Is anyone going to mention the horribly under-thrown pass on the reverse out of the wildcat? Did anybody notice that Sheehan was throwing some really beautiful passes to start the game, but then as the game drew on and the drops started accumulating, he started throwing worse passes hoping that the receivers had Braylon Edwards syndrome (make the spectacular catch, drop the easy stuff).
ROLL ALONG!!!
