Well, Drew, I think more of us have seen this article than the games in Mankato. Also, the Wilfrid-Laurier game write-up was identical so I don't think it has to do with whether or not he saw the game. If it was a one time thing I wouldn't care but it does really reflect poorly on the school.

Seriously, cut the kid some slack. He had to write two games stories this weekend, on short deadline, for games he wasn't able to attend. I'm guessing he was on a tight deadline for the Wilfrid Laurier game as well, because he probably had in-game duties with home football later that afternoon.

He's a GA who is working his AZZ off for very little money. Is he perfect? No. Are any of us? No. WOULD you or I be able to do better than Ryan? Not necessarily.

Geez, now I'm asking myself questions and answering them Urban Meyer-style.

In six words or less -- give the kid a break, people.

He's a Wings fan...he likes to listen to Ken Kal and Paul Woods call the games...

After this post I won't say any more but if he's doing this to use an example of his work for future employment it would be to his best interest to heed the words of the critics and change his style. I don't care how quickly he needs to turn these out because it's the same environment at all news organizations. If it's difficult to read and understand, it's worthless.

Yup. I sent web site feedback about the quality of the recaps a couple of seasons ago and received a reply to the effect that the author is a very busy graduate student doing his best. I replied that I expected grammar and punctuation to have been mastered long before graduate school. As for the present, I believe it would take more effort to produce twisted sentences than to produce a straightforward account of the game.

Ok, lets do this. Let's have someone volunteer to write a recap after every game, and then I'll send them to the person writing the current ones.

1. Great way to work on your own writing skills
2. Get your work published and
3. Gives you all something else to examine, because you're obviously bored.

A TCOM guy correcting a VCT guy?

Isn't there some law against that?
