The Mobile Journal (how I survived Charlotte)

Post by JohnnySwoop '85 »

I finally feel up to putting my thoughts together on the whole Bowl experience attended by me and my son Logan (future class of 2018).

Woke up at 4:00 am the day of the game and left from Akron at 6:00 am.
Went to the Waffle House in Mobile for a late lunch and was at Ladd Peebles by 3:30....greeted the team coming off the busses with "Legacy Boy" holding his sign "Undefeated when I Attend, 9-0, Make it 10!"

Never got so wet at a game, very few pictures of the actual game turned out, but you guys know the whole story.....What a Great Freakin Falcon Game!!!!
Tell me it isn't a complete mental breakdown of players AND coaches when you have two consecutive Illegal Substitution Penalties....and when Wimprine fumbled while scrambling! Pandemonium.

Running onto the field was great, fiving alot of the players and thanking a few specific seniors for having great careers here. Got a couple of good shots of the trophy winners upon the tractor-pulled stage. Asked Coach Studrawa how big he thought those two penalties were in regard to Big Mo' and he just rolled his eyes and threw his head back...yeah, I agree that they were huge.

The next day we toured the USS Alabama, wishing we had more time to see stuff, but on back to the airport. Got to Charlotte on time, but flight was delayed to Akron until 11:15 pm, then 12:00 am, then 2:00 am...then cancelled....why does US Airways call it Special Services when you have to wait for 1:45 hours in it to get re-booked and a hotel for th night, then you have to stand in the lobby for an hour to get checked in???? Got 4 hours of sleep back to the airport for another flight cancellation, another 2 hours in line to get re-booked, fortunately on a direct flight back instead of going to Pittsburgh as was the original plan and get driven back by the wife (Mrs Class of '86"I told you this was a stupid idea").
But you know Thousands of people were on the news in Cleveland and elsewhere being stranded for the whole Christmas weekend so it could be worse.
And another thing....no matter how frustrating the return trip was it wasn't that bad, you know why....Because WE WON!!

Legacy Boy:"Undefeated when I attend, 10-0, Make it 11........Camp Randall here we come...Jump Around!"
