GREETINGS FROM MOBILE!

Post by transfer2BGSU »

Good afternoon from beautiful Mobile, Alabama!

Flew into New Orleans and arrived there at 1:30 PM (2:30 PM in BG) and saw 87 and Noah at the Enterprise Rental Car. Cunny and 70 degrees in N'Awlins.

Made it to Mobile around 4:30 PM (5:30 PM back in BG). Getting ready to hop a shuttle to the Mardi Gras Parade and fireworks. I saw in the lobby there is a Falcon Pep rally scheduled for somewhere as well, so I guess i'll be heading over there as well.

When I checked in downstairs, the staf had on their BGSU Falcon Football shirts. Not sure who in the Athletic Department was responsible for that, but great job!

Mobile Mariott is across the streeet from the Mobile Hooters! AWESOME location!

We'll let you know later about all of the festivities!

Having trouble with my Internet connection but finally able to post again.

The Mardi Gras parade was great. Having no idea as to what to expect, I was pleasantly surprised. My god, how much money do they spend on beads and cups?

Enjoyed the pep rally as well. Met some Mobile folks who were extremely friendly and talkative. Learned a lot of things about the town and the game. These folks really support the proram down here.

One of the people I met had a niece who graduated from BG back in the '80s. He had lived in Columbus while stationed at Lockbourne Air Force Base (now known as Rickenbacker Air National Guard Base). We reminisced about our days in the capital city (but no mention of a certain program came up).

Today I did see the sun (right after I bought my yellow rainsuit - I'll be the guy on TV this evening that looks like a five year old all decked out in his yellow rain attire).

Picked up 700 WLW (out of Cincy) last night as I was running a few errands. Definitely do not miss all of that snow which is forecast in SW Ohio.

One final observation - these people do not know how to drive (sorry MobileBama). Oh my god, I probably need to go to confession when I get back for some of things I've said (under my breath, of course).

Just a little over four hours to kickoff!

GO FALCONS!

GREETINGS FROM VICTORY CENTRAL!!!!

Team just got back to the hotel. Big crowd down in the lobby to greet them as they arrived back. Lots of happy parents! Lots of exhausted players, but something says there won't be muching sleeping this evening.

QUESTION: Is the GMAC trophy like the Stanley Cup? Does everybody get a day with it?

Great game this evening. I did not tape the game (I did tape OU, NIU, and TU-PU) so if anyone makes a DVD, let me know how much it costs to get a copy of it!

Great to see all of the seniors go out in style.

I'm heading back to the VICTORY PARTY!!!!!!!

Hey Dave,

I think I saw you at the GMAC bowl. Did you have a 21 jersey on with your name on the back of it? You were on the field after the game, so I didn't get a chance to say hi since I was kept off of it.

Yep! You found me!

It was great being with the Athletic Department people. Those folks go anywhere they want to. Just tell the police officer they are supposed to be on the field for the trophy presentation and the gates open.

We rode out from the hotel with the coaches wives and families. Had a police escort to the game. Then we got invited to go onto the field for the presentation of the championship trophy!

Got to shake hands with Coach Brandon and even talked to Cole Magner for a brief moment.

A great experience!

I asked the police guys if I could go say hi to my kid (like I had a kid on the team). What can I say, I love my Falcons! I got to shake hands with many of the guys. I was so happy for them. Being in the hotel and celebrating with the team was fabulous! I am so glad we went down. It was even more enjoyable than the MCB last season! Did anyone else notice the three or so Memphis fans that "accidentally" got a room at that Marriott? Someone actually talked to them and they had no idea that the Marriott was BGSU Central! Oh well! Hope they didn't mind all the noise Wednesday night (LOL)!

The Mobile police were so cool, I think you could have just asked them if you could stand on the side lines and they might have let you. I was standing behind one of the end zones in the 4th quarter and I was talking to the police standing there. I jokingly asked them if the goal post was greased-up, because I am going to charge it and bring it down after the game. By myself. They said go for it!
