BG vs. UT time?
According to BGSU Falcons.com... the BG-UT game looks like it'll be an ELEVEN AM starting time!!!!! WOW!!! And some of us aren't happy with a NOON start? It's still not definite, and it COULD start as late as 2pm.... The women's BB game is scheduled for 7PM at AA as a result of not knowing "officially" when the FB game is to be played (they'll announce THAT about a week before the game).... Considering it's Thanksgving weekend, this is a real bummer in terms of making formal plans.
Education our Challenge, Excellence our goal. (look it up)
Re: BG vs. UT time?
I'm getting really tired of all the crappy scheduling stuff - Tuesday games, 5 p.m. Friday kickoffs, 11 a.m. kick offs - worse than that, I'm getting sick and tired of hearing about how we're getting hamstrung by ESPN. What about the FANS?
The BG-UT game is THE game of the year and you have it on a crappy day already. Why make it that much more difficult for folks to make plans to attend?

Looks like the 8am tailgate start just got pushed up to sunrise. Here's to a light coating of snow on Bill's Hill that morning!

Re: BG vs. UT time?
Ehh, most of the Big Ten and Big XII play at 11am during the fall.
Down here in SEC country it is fairly common for the entire league schedule to have TBA next to it. (We're going to the USC-Florida game on Nov. 14 and that game time just got announced this week).
I actually prefer the mid afternoon start and don't really mind the 11am start.
Seeing as how it is a holiday weekend it allows for me to be able to maximize my time with friends and family as opposed to an evening game which would take most of my afternoon and evening.
Since this is THE game I will be there whether it is at 7pm, 9pm, 8am, or on the moon. And if somehow I could make it I'd make plans to watch it.
The more I think of it the more I really like the 2pm start. Let's be honest, we probably won't be on t.v., 2pm allows for a nice tailgate (start by 10am), we won't freeze in the dark under the lights, and we still have a holiday evening to spend with friends and family.

Re: BG vs. UT time?
I'm with '87 on this one. I used to go to several road games every year along with all of the home games. The scheduling over the past several years has really distanced me from the football program. I get to most of the home games, but this will be the second straight year where I won't be going to a MAC road game in part due to the scheduling. I realize the BG/UT game is at home and I'll be there, but my complaint is with the scheduling arrangements in general, not BG/UT specifically.
The MAC has bent over to get on ESPN at odd times over the past 5 years so that a very small percentage of the population can choose to watch football during the week. I'm glad that I can at least see BG on TV, but if the games were on Saturday, I would see them in person. Oh well, at least Bob in Montana will be happy to watch BG/UB tonight and BG/UT at 11AM the morning after Thanksgiving.

I love the 2pm... I was slowly warming up to the 12:30 possibility they mentioned initially, but 11am is just EARLY.Dayons_Den wrote:The more I think of it the more I really like the 2pm start. Either way, it's going to be a fantastic tailgating morning, afternoon and evening.

Re: BG vs. UT time?
Well, we've signed with ESPN and that's how things are going to be, fans be damned. At least we are finally getting paid.
I don't mind the day after Thanksgiving, we have drawn well for this game on that day under the right circumstances. 11 is an poor time, but not as bad as 8 pm....and Dayon is right, an Illinois game with a 12 Eastern start is at 11. Bowl games start then. It isn't unheard of.
As for not knowing the time, that's very common anymore. I just checked and the UM website does not show a time for the Ohio State game yet.

Re: BG vs. UT time?
An 11am start?!?! That means the band kids have to be there at 9 for their pre-game show, which means limited Black Friday shopping and little tailgate. I'd much prefer the 2pm....it's easier for all the families and more people to be there to watch.

Re: BG vs. UT time?
I agree with everyone saying the later the better. I really want to make it to the game this year but 11am is just ridiculous, especially being the day after Thanksgiving.

Remember, if we're not on TV, gametime is 2:00 PM. Wait until we know the time before you get all upset about nothing.

Re: BG vs. UT time?
I know I'm in the minority here, but I'd like the game to start as early as humanly possible.
Yeah, it would suck for tailgating, but I have to be at work for the Walleye game that night by 4PM, so an 11AM start time is fine by me.

Re: BG vs. UT time?
We really are spoiled by the fact that most of our games are guaranteed to not generate national attention. For example, Tennessee's game times aren't announced until at the earliest two and a half weeks before the day of the game, as it's never for sure where it might get picked up.

So Terry - if it's an 11 AM start do I hear a post-Thanksgiving breakfast tailgate?
