Place your guess here and I will call the GMAC Office to find out. I have been trying to but no one is answering this morning.
UVA and Fresno State had about 28,000.
Turds and UCONN set MotorCity Bowl record with 52,500.
Even with the pouring rain, my guess is 20,000.
What was the final attendance at the GMAC?

It was reported as 27,000 and change, I believe.Falcon52 wrote:Even with the pouring rain, my guess is 20,000.
OK - I just got off the phone with the GMAC Bowl Office and the guy said it was sold out and that 40,160 seats were sold. By NFL attedance standards this would count. He also stated that they don't actually count the number of people who actually attend. He also said many people didn't come because of the rain, which we all knew. My point is that for the record books it would be nice to see the 40,160.

That sounds VERY generous. There is no way there were more than 20k people at that game. Our side was very sparsely populated and while the Memphis side had a lot of people, it still had quite a few open pockets. The endzones were also virtually empty.Schadenfreude wrote:It was reported as 27,000 and change, I believe.Falcon52 wrote:Even with the pouring rain, my guess is 20,000.
The rain really was bad though....bad to the extent that only fanatics who already traveled hundreds of miles to be there would still go for the most part bad, so I don't blame the locals for not showing up.

King: 27K might be generous, but I don't think it's a stretch to say that there were 20K in the stands. The stadium holds about 41K. The Memhpis have was pretty much full and, while our side was sparse, we still had a few thousand. 20K sounds about right to me, but I'm glad the game sold out.FalconKing wrote:That sounds VERY generous.
