Write-in Freddie Barnes for Heisman!

Post by Dayons_Den »

Something to do if you have a spare minute or two each day at work. . .

http://promo.espn.go.com/espn/contests/ ... vote/2009/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Enter: Freddie Barnes, WR, Bowling Green.

Lets see if we can get him on the leader board!

Me too.

Although this little gem was not to be missed:
"* Only those candidates with a legitimate chance of winning the Heisman Trophy in the view of ESPN and Nissan will be added to the leaderboard."

Which basically means....you aren't from a BCS conference, your school isn't ranked in the top 25, and you don't have a huge fan base so thanks for playing.

If Dan LeFevour is worthy of making the list this year, then so is Freddie with what he has accomplished so far.

While I don't want to take anything away from Freddie's monster year, the difference that I see between he and Dan is that Dan has put up a pretty impressive body of work for 4 straight years.

And doing so on a team that has a very good record. And at QB.

Freddie's having an amazing year, and he should at least get invited to the awards ceremony for the Biletnikoff, but he's not heisman worthy, IMO.

I am not saying that I think Freddie is Heisman worthy, I am just stating that he deserves to atleast have his name on that long list if LeFevour is up there. Yes, LeFevour has put up impressive numbers 4 straight years, but the heisman also isn't based off a career, its based on this season...otherwise Tebow would have it locked up...The only thing keepin Freddie from getting more noteriety is the fact that he isn't on a winning team...I just think he should atleast be able to get recognition for what he has accomplished thus far.

I'm voting for Freddie today. From home--I don't do this sort of thing at work!

The lowest vote-getter in the Leaderboard, Rolando McClain from Alabama, has 51 votes.

Lets get to work and see if we can at least get Freddie B. on the Leaderboard and on the periphery of the discussion. . .

I hate to be a sad sack, but what's the point. I mean Tate Forcier has like 1,600. Who wants be on a list with that total BS?

The point was and still is to get his name and the name of our fine institution out there. I don't have any delusional thoughts that Freddie will walk away with the trophy but I think he is having a great season and at least deserves to be a sidebar.

And the more Freddie Barnes and Bowling Green get mentioned the better, it could even have an outside positive effect on his Biletnikoff chances.
