Re: Chris Bullock
I have always liked Bullock and think he brings something to the table that Getter can't. I wish they would have run Chris last night near the goal line. Geter can't push a pile like Bullock can. Having said that, I can't fault the coaching staff for not having faith in him to hang onto the ball in those situations.
The blocked punt last night semed to be Bullock's fault as Clawson got in his face pretty good when he came to the sidelines. He was on the punt coverage team and had the punt block that was supposed to seal the edge. He missed the block and guy came free for the block. I just wonder if Chris' head is always in the game...let alone practice.
I can't blame Clawson for not using Bullock because Brandon didn't know what to do with him either.

Re: Chris Bullock
I like Chris Bullock. I think he could be a great running back for us. I have also been pleasantly surprised with Geter this year. There are times when I think he cuts in when he should sweep out, but he has been running hard for us.
However, to play devil's advocate, Miami was not a good guage of how our running game could be doing. Their defense has been terrible at plugging up the corners all season long. (ironically, the announcers kept rambling about how bad our defense was against the run) Towards the end of the game, this made our running game look a lot better than it actually is.
Bullock runs north and south. He is good at finding holes and running through them. He has decent speed and runs hard. Problem is, there has to be room for him to run. Our Oline has been so entrenched in the spread that it will take time for our new coaching staff to prepare them for making holes. This won't happen overnight.
As much as I like Bullock, Geter does seem to be better at dancing around and making something out of nothing. It would be nice to see Bullock get more touches, but it probably won't happen until late in the game like last night. Bullock really made Miami look bad once their defense had been wore down from 3 quarters of football.
I just hope the rest of the season looks like last night.

Brandon didn't know what to do with him? Come on now....
2008: Was second on the team with 384 yards rushing
2007: Played in 11 games ... had 281 yards on 64 carries, for a 4.4-yard average
2006: Played in 11 games, including five starts ... named Sporting News Freshman All-American after averaging 4.8 yards/carry with 769 yards on 160 carries
I think he knew what do with him...he fed him the ball and let him do the work.

Re: Chris Bullock
I know much has been said about Bullock's fumbles...anyone know how many fumbles he actually HAS... and in how many carries...through his career. If he missed the block on the blocked punt, he deserves to be chewed out...but he hits holes better than Willie, who does tend to "dance" a bit, looking for running room... it would seem that if our O line can simply blow off the ball and create seams, either RB should be able to get decent positive yardage.

Brandon had a Sporting News Freshman All-American running back (14.5 carries a game in 2006) and during his sophmore year he gives him the ball only 64 times all season (5 carries a game in 2007)?
His junior year wasn't much better (7.6 carries a game in 2008).
All the while guys like Anthony Turner, Eric Ransom and Willie Geter are getting more carries than Chris.
So no, Brandon didn't "feed him the ball and let him do the work." Brandon was frustrated with him and his fumbles and refused to use him as his featured back. Brandon never saw Chris as a back that fit his spread offense. That's why he went and got Ransom and Geter. Someone who could catch out of the backfield.
Ask Chris and his parents what they thought of how Brandon used Chris beyond his freshman year.

In my experience, "most" parents DON'T think their son is being used correctly, unless they end up being all-league, all-american and play in the NFL for 15 years!!!

Yea CBJ, you obviously haven't been paying attention to this team the past few years if you think GB fed him the ball and let him do the work...

Re: Chris Bullock
Just to recap:
Bullock rushed the ball exactly 64 times in 2008 and 2007, and Brandon was utilizing him perfectly and was the best coach in history.
Bullock is on pace for 60 rushes this year, and Clawson is the dumbest asshole on the planet for not giving him the rock more.

The win in Oxford is irrelevant because Clawson exposed himself as the dumbest asshole on the planet.

Re: Chris Bullock
For a team that spreads it out and throws the majority of the time, Bullock ran his fare share of times. Turner was a very good back but he still managed to get the ball. The point is about this year is that it seems like we don't have anyone else to run the ball but Geter. Like someone has taken all of our running backs away and said "Geter is it for BG, have fun with his negative plays." Check and see how many division 1 teams use only 1 back in their offense.

Re: Chris Bullock
So, did you just skip over the part where it was pointed out that Bullock is on pace for as many carries this year as he had the last two?

Bullock had 92 carries last year and has 49 this year with 2 games left...how is he close to last year's numbers?
