I may be alone...

Post by hammb »

I may be alone, but I'm anxious to watch us play Xavier tonight!

There hasn't been hardly any chatter on this board about the game tonight, but I really want to see how we stack up against a top tier D1 collegiate basketball team. I'm not sure how good people are expecting Xavier to be this year, but I see that they're getting some votes in both polls, so they're probably at least a top 50-60 team, I would think. This is going to be a very tough test for the young guys on the team, but I'm ready to see them take that test.

There is some athletic ability on this team, if they develop into a cohesive basketball team the talent is there for us to be pretty good. It'll be interesting to see how we stack up right now.

I agree with you. Xavier and Dayton are far and above the most elite A-10 teams, basically making them the most elite "mid-major" teams, so this will be a great test as to where our team is at right now. I especially want to see how Polk will hold up against stiff inside competition. I've been watching basketball on ESPN all day and it's just getting me more excited to watch BG tonight.

I'm with you! I am also looking forward to seeing how we match up. I am glad Time Warner is showing the game.

Anyone with Directv know what the channel number is for the game? My friend might have it and i'm tempted to go over there if he has the channel. Or maybe channel surfing might have it.

I'm excited, no doubt.
Just can't decide if I want to tune in Todd Walker online or wait until I get home and watch the DVR'd version "as live". Hmmm....

Fox Sport Ohio is chnnel 660 on DirectTV but they have the Cavs on here in Cleveland. The BG/Xavier game can be found on channel 661 Fox Sports Cincinnati if you have the expanded sports package.

As a Xavier fan for the last 25 years, I think they have Final 4 potential. It could be their best team ever. The "other" Jordan Crawford is a complete player, and Redford is the best shooter with the most range in the country.

That said, I think we can be a good team yet, once the young players get more court time. Friday will be a real acid test against Iowa. The Hawkeyes appear to be down again this year. I think Lou can sort out who can contribute and the best way to utilize guys before MAC play.

The one definate coming out of tonight: Stay in the zone defense!

LOL...I don't think I have to eat any of my words. I still think there is some athletic ability on the BG team, and I wanted to see where they'd stack up against what is quite likely a tourney team, and probably a reasonable seed.

Now we know...we didn't stack up too well :)

I didn't end up seeing the 2nd half of the game, but the way Xavier played in the first half they looked like one helluva team. Great athletic ability and some great shooting from the outside. If that is the type of team they're going to put on the court on a nightly basis then they're going to be VERY good. I don't see how BG could have won.
