It's Temple vs. Ohio for the MAC East title

Post by BGSU33 »

Temple & Ohio both won again today and will meet next week in Athens to decide the MAC East title. Temple is 7-0 & Ohio is 6-1. Both teams just keep finding ways to win in the MAC week after week. I hope the Owls can claim it but I have a feeling the Bobcats will win it.

Can't agree with you on this one...maybe it's my "east coast" bias, but unless Temple is willing to commit to joining the league in more than one sport, I really don't want to see them win it...I realize an OU win would probably hurt us more in terms of a possible bowl game, but the the thought of Temple winning the division and playing in the MACC game doesn't sit well with me.

I don't see an OU win would hurt our bowl chances, seeing as they already have 8 wins. They're going to be taken before us regardless of what happens in the final week.

We might get taken in front of Northern Illinois, if they lose to CMU and we beat Toledo. However, it wouldn't surprise me if Central Michigan rests their starters against NIU, seeing as they've already clinched the West division title. They did that against EMU in 2006 in a similar situation.

I do agree however, with your assertion of a "not real MAC" team winning the conference. That would suck.

Yeah, I definitely feel like having 13 teams in MAC Football is a little unnecessary and effs with scheduling and whatnot. I say tell them "Join all the way or be on your way." Screw 'em!

Isn't Temple's star freshman running back done for the year now with some sort of shoulder injury?

I don't like having Temple in the conference, bet it one team or several. They do not belong and should be thrown out before we are screwed over by yet another hit-and-run member. Of course, the last one didn't do so well after they left anyway.
