We can't wait, either. We may well have depth in the underclasses, but the guys who walk off the field for the last time next Fall will be numerous and all quality players. A good program has the guys to bounce back, which I think we are and hope we will.

Cole is one of my favorite players of all time, though my history does not date back too far. Opposing fans hate him because he looks like a pushover, yet caught 217 career passes and was always a threat for a trick play.
PJ Pope is also another one of my all time favorites.

In my 7 years of watching BG football, Cole is easily my favorite player. Opposing fans may hate him, but I guarantee that they would like 85 guys like him on scholarship at their school.

I hope Partridge can fill Cole's role as a possession guy and someone in the group of Lett, Brantley, Jones, and Hutcherson can step up and become a quality receiver for Omar 2 years from now. All of these guys better realize that they will have a shot next year and a huge opportunity in '06 to play with a great QB. I hope they take advantage and bring us some depth at receiver for Omar and Turner.

According to JJ Huddle, verbal commit Luke Alexander will graduate HS in January sign his LOI and enroll immediately here at BG. This will allow him to put his 4.45 speed into the mix at WR this spring. Alexander averaged a mind boggling 21 yards per catch his senior season.

The last player (that I recall ) to go this route at BG was some kid named Devon Parks. Here' to the hope that Alexander can have an immediate impact also

Only a 4.45??? Eh. Or was it on grass? In a blizzard? On cement with new shoes on? Barefoot in the sand? C'mon Flip, you gotta back them numbers up!

It was a "chased by his date's father after prom" time.

I wonder if we have any JUCO guys transfering in. Would be nice to pick up at least one fast experienced DB and one fat, but quick D-Lineman to help stop the run.

I was talking with Coach Rothenbuhler yesterday as he dropped off a JUCO transcript for a spring admit. We also talked about Luke Alexander and what needed to be done so he could enroll for the spring semester. It will get done.

Someone state earlier and I'll chime in on it ...

This year, we knew we had a top-notch DB (Keon) to fill in for the departing General. But who will replace Keon? I have high hopes - VERY high hopes - for Perry and, eventually, Dozier. I think Mayberry made some strides this year. Jordan continues to vex me (case in point: He made two consecutive great tackles against Memphis, then totally blew a tackle and got torched on a pass).

I believe the DBs will step it up, but we don't have a proven cornerstone back there. Our defensive backfield could be our Achilles Heel or the biggest pleasant surprise.

Also, we're losing a bunch on the O-line, but we do have some very good talent returning.

I have to say that I'm looking forward to seeing Winovich get some pt at LB. The kid just explodes when he hits people.

The Oline doesn't worry me as much as others here. Warren and Lichtensteiger are back, as is Drew Nystrom who filled in very well for Warren when he was injured. Derrick Markray, that mountain of a man, should get a great chance to step in....

And then there are other members of the "5 blocks of granite"...Edmond Massey, Andrew Stanford, Kevin Huelsman and Patrick Watson...who earned some playing time the other night in the bowl game. Aaron Kent and Jeffrey Fink were RS this yr. John Lanning had injury problems and will be back. Jonathan Culp is hard to figure out. He has experience but hasn't performed that well. He will be a SR...does he kick it up a couple notches?

I know we are losing one of our best OL ever in Scotty M and Andrew Hart was a true warrior. Andy Grubb was a good lineman as well. We lost O linemen after 2002 and 2003.

Lichtensteiger will probably move to Center now....3 more years for Kory!

I second that....losing Burkes and Sayles is big but with Winovich back and Terrell White to go along with Teddy P, we should have some great athleticsm and size at LB...all over 225. And that doesn't include Joseph Schaefer, FR, who was a 2 time All Ohio pick for Cleve Benedictine. At 6'4", 250, that is size.

Class of 61 or other Cleveland folks...can you comment on Schaefer? His credentials look awesome and his dad played at WVU. A 2 time All State pick? wow...

Not to mention John Haneline from St Iggy's. There is talk he could be (gulp) better than his brother Chris.

GO FALCONS!!!
