Re: BG vs Vandy Tonight....
Vandy had two good looks at 3's to take the lead down by 2, but they missed both, then Pontius with 2 FTs, 25 seconds left, BG leads 64-60. CLOSE IT OUT!!!

I don't know what to say really, but the words "pissing down their legs" comes to mind. We've had no mental toughness whatsoever, and it seems as though NOBODY wants to take the shot on most of our possessions.
Or.......perhaps it's best to wait until the game ends to question mental toughness.

Point taken, but if you saw how badly we were beating ourselves for the first 17 minutes of the second half, you'd have to agree with my post 100%. Hell, there were other posters in here during the game that said the exact same thing, so get off my back. The good thing is, despite our ridiculous amount of turnovers, we shot 60% from the field which bailed us out. That and the fact that Vandy missed on two wide open threes in the final 90 seconds, either one of which would have given them the lead, those two things were what got us the win tonight.AyZiggy97 wrote:bgsufalcon24 wrote:58-57 BG leads by 1 at the under 4:00 timeout. IMO, we did NOT deserve to win this game at all. But a win's a win, and this one is HUGE. This win gives us instant credibility, and if we can avoid slipping up against subpar opposition the rest of the way, well, we'll have a great shot at dancing this season.

Wins like this go a long way when looking over the resume of potential at-large teams.
Great job! Hot start and played well enough to gut out the VICTORY!

Re: BG vs Vandy Tonight....
What a fantastic game to watch, with an even better outcome! Unfortunately, it was only a great game because of our unforced turnovers. Traveling, stepping on the baseline, traveling, throwing it away, traveling. Ugh. That was tough to watch, but at least they were able to hang on and shoot the heck out of the ball.
No matter how we got it, this is a huge win for this team and program. It isn't often you can waltz into an SEC arena against a ranked opponent and walk away with the win. Great job, Falcons!

I'm just not comfortable describing college players as "pissing down their legs." Vanderbilt is ranked in the top 20 for a reason.
Yeah shooting percentage made up in some part for the turnovers. And BG also out rebounded them, which is something Miller has bemoaned for several years. Any time a team ends up with more points than the opposition a win is deserved, IMHO. That's what life as a Bengals fan has taught me anyway.

Whew. Great first 20 minutes, great last 3 minutes.

I agree. I watched the last 11 minutes of the game and we played pathetic basketball. Half of the possesions we didn't even get a shot off. Not being able to close games out is a concern. Just like the Marist game...we get a big lead and then play like we never been on the court together.
You know a ranked team like Vandy is going to make a run, but leads and 18 and 14 points are hard to give up.
Nice to Breske back on the court.

Re: BG vs Vandy Tonight....
Ummm ... correct me if I'm wrong.
They beat a nationally-ranked SEC team on their home court. Is that not good enough for some of you?
Yes, they struggled at times in the second half, and yes, it wasn't the prettiest game from start to finish. But, cmon!
Congrats, ladies! That's an unFalconbelievable win!!!

I believe it was the last time we beat Vandy in 2007. They were ranked #8 at the time if i remember right. AWESOME win tonight! GO FALCONSBourbonFalcon wrote:What's the highest ranked team BG has ever defeated?

Re: BG vs Vandy Tonight....
Actually, I have heard that Vanderbilt will be coming to BG next year.
And, I would rather win ugly than look great in a loss. Of course, a pretty win is the ultimate goal, but I will be looking for that as the season progresses. The idea is to be playing your best basketball at the end of the season.
And the comment above (I think you will all figure out which comment I am referring to, I don't want to draw anymore attention to it than necessary), was crass and not needed. You can make your point without using such terms.
