Base Bid Estimate total is just over $4 million.

Does anybody know what exactly they plan to do for that initial $4 million?

This isn't coming from any official source but I've heard rumors of locker room renovations, possibly adding a second floor to the south end, and possibly new seating.

Who is "Process"?
When did we sign him?
What position does he play?

It is my understanding that this first 4 million is going to necessary building improvements like new chillers and fixing that damn tin can of a roof. I'd be surprised if it was used for many "flashy" improvements.

That's what I've always heard, too. That "they could put $5 million in there and you wouldn't notice a thing."

Of course, that doesn't mean they aren't going to start with $2 million in necessities and $2 million in flash, either...

"The goal is to raise nine million dollars -- four million from state and university funds and five from private funding along with the grant. We had about four million before the pledge last Saturday night toward the five million.

"Then we want four million more to endow [hockey] scholarships; about 500,000 each – this is a five-year campaign. It's a total of 13 million for the arena and hockey program; and at least eight scholarships to help the athletic department. You can't run with the big boys without scholarships."

Whoa, am I reading that right? They've already raised 4 million on top of the state grant and University commitment?

Not the way I read it, but we are likely to get some more news in the not so distant future, right Marta

Thanks Journey for the clarification. When I read "locker room renovations" my jaw about hit the floor.

They need to fix fan and playing amenities first and foremost.

My wish list:
- Upgrade equipment necessary for the best ice surface possible
- New lighting
- New ceiling
- More convenient ticket windows and arena entrances
- More chairback seats
- More "permanent" concessions stands like under the enclosed end

An updated press box is sorely needed as well.

at 4mill
we would likely see the studio sheet go, and the area converted into locker rooms and the tennis locker rooms redone. new lighting and sound done. HVAC and dehumidifyers/or the new main area floor. PRess box and seating backs. South end offices, proshop, club seats and concessions all done with some modification.

Many of the things on your wish list are also on the renovation list!

If you're at the game tonight, take a look beind the north end goal judge box. There two pallets sitting there with a new condessor and chiller...key elements for the ice making unit.

And before anyone asks why they aren't putting it in yet, it's because they have to wait until the outside temp is subzero several days in a row so they can turn off the current unit and replace it without losing the existing ice.
