BG vs. Idaho in Humanitarian Bowl
Re: BG vs. Idaho in Humanitarian Bowl
Hey there Falcons, another BSU person here. I noticed reading here that some are staying at the Grove. As was said, it's a great location. I would offer one more eatery, Goldies, mainly for breakfast. It's across Capital Boulevard (borders the Grove to the south) and a half a block east (toward the hills). The food is great and it has a homey feel to it.
Many are pulling for you simply because the majority - but certainly not all - Vandals are nasty. The rivalry goes well beyond football.
Hope those of you who can visit enjoy the stay in our community.
Best of luck knocking the Vandals into the Blue turf. Love the comment that they would be 0 for 2 on the blue this year.

This is completely evident by the number of Broncos who are trying to start a smack-down on another school's board.PLUOW wrote:Hey there Falcons, another BSU person here. Re: BG vs. Idaho in Humanitarian Bowl
In their defense, we have developed somewhat of a rapport with Bronco's fans around here, having played them several times recently, and on our own turf this year. And despite what any Vandal has to say, I have had nothing but a great experience with anyone from Boise - either on this board, or in person.JollyVandal wrote:This is completely evident by the number of Broncos who are trying to start a smack-down on another school's board.PLUOW wrote:Hey there Falcons, another BSU person here. So in short, I don't believe your lies.
Go Falcons!!!
Go Broncos!

I have family and friends at UI, and there are perfectly wonderful people there. And my personal experience with Boise fans is actually pretty negative. So they're just like every other fan base in the country, some great people and some not so great ones. Let's let the BSU-UI rivalry STAY in Idaho.

For all the Bowling Green Fans: Welcome to Idaho! The Game will be freeze your nuts off cold - but it is an awesome atmosphere.
There are several hotels up and down University and Broadway (Right down from the stadium.) As well as great food. Check out the Mexican Food, and The Flying Pie Pizzaria, For a real treat check out The 'Pie on Gormet Night (On Tuesday NIght Before the Game) http://www.flyingpie.com/gourmetmenu.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
How it Works: http://www.flyingpie.com/gourmet.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; and they have some of the best Beer around.
I am looking forward to a great game, and feel free to stop by our tailgates, we are really a nice bunch.
Cheers!

That's impossible. They were already frozen off in the last BG game against Toledo.

Also a personal note - that's where April and I got engaged September 2008.

Toledo wasn't that bad this year (temperature for game, wind chill that is because they still su*k)...Buffalo last year, Miami '06 now that was cold.
Please Lord, grant me and the boy cheap air fares!

There is no other way to finish a season other than yelling at the top of your lungs among BG's players holding the Peace Pipe aloft!
Re: BG vs. Idaho in Humanitarian Bowl
This morning it was 0 degrees at my house. But, it's usually not that cold around H-Bowl time. Worst case is we get a temperature inversion and it is cold and dreary in the valley but sunny and warm up on the hill. You can be spring skiing in December. For those that ski, if the mountain is actually open by then, Bogus Basin is a 16 mile drive up the hill from town. If you've spent your life as flatlander you may want to catch a ride or take the bus as the road up there can be a bit "exhilarating". World famous Sun Valley is about 2 hours from Boise and they are skiing now. Maybe you'll see the Governator.
The Grove is a very nice hotel. If you're sticking around for New Years (I know most won't), there is a hockey arena at the hotel and the ECHL Idaho Stealheads play there on the 31st. I would highly recommend Flying Pie (combo is simply great). I like the Ram. Tablerock Brewpub is two blocks south of the hotel. Good brews made on site.
Looking forward to a good game. Hope to see you folks around the tailgates and around town before and after.
Go Vandals!

Re: BG vs. Idaho in Humanitarian Bowl
BG is staying at the Doubletree Riverside. That is the official hotel for the away team. The Grove is the official hotel for Idaho. Rates are shown as $109 for either place.
Airfares went crazy yesterday. Out of CIncinnati the cheapest fare yesterday morning was $493. Last night it went to $780! Ouch!
One of the highlights for the teams will have to be: "Bowling For Beef" (from the official Humanitarian Bowl Guide):
Certified Angus Beef Bowling Event,
3:00pm – 5:00pm Required
(Casual event, 11 defensive starters, 11 offensive starters and one coach)
Teams enjoy bowling for charity. WAC Offensive starters will bowl
against MWC Defensive starters and vice-versa. The starters are asked to wear their
uniforms while bowling. Two pounds of beef will be donated to two local charities for
every bowling pin knocked down. Also, CAB will donate 2 lbs of beef per pin to a
charity located in the home town of the school.
Entire teams are invited to bowl; food and beverage provided.

Re: BG vs. Idaho in Humanitarian Bowl
Tyler better learn how to bowl left handed REAL quick if he's going to be forced into participation...I think that's kind of crappy to make a QB go bowling before a football game.
