How some Media views BG vs Idaho

Post by SB-50 »

CollegeFootballNews.com:

Roady's Humanitarian Bowl
December 30th, Boise ID, 4:30 pm ESPN
Bowling Green vs. Idaho
This Bowl Could Be Great Because ... easily the nation's biggest surprise team (really, it is), Idaho was stunningly decent under Robb Akey, whose teams always fought hard but without any results. The effort will be there in the team's first bowl game since 1998, while Bowling Green will make it fun with QB Tyler Sheehan, WR Freddie Barnes, and the Falcons high-octane air show.
This Bowl Could Suck Because ... Bowling Green closed out the year with four straight wins and have found ways to win. Idaho has lost four of its last five games, giving up 52 points to Utah State, 63 to Boise State, and 70 to Nevada.
The Initial Knee-Jerk Reaction ... a bowl win would mean everything to a Vandal program that has been among the weakest over the last decade. Played close to home, this should be a wild, high-spirited game.

From ESPN.com (ranked the bowls 1-34):

31. Roady's Humanitarian Bowl
Bowling Green vs. Idaho
4:30 p.m. ET, Dec. 30

Two high-powered offenses should feel right at home on Boise State's blue turf. Will anyone be in town to see the Vandals and Falcons play with the Broncos playing in the Fiesta Bowl? Idaho averaged 31.8 points per game; Bowling Green averaged 27.3. Falcons receiver Freddie Barnes should make some All-America teams.

Iupati is a BEAST and definitely a 2nd/3rd round draft prospect. One of, if not THE, best pure guard prospects in the nation.

He's a great prospect, but guards don't go in the first round too often, and I haven't seen him projected there by anyone either. Most have him as a 2nd rounder.

Either way, he's a stud.

The Browns will probably take him with one of their first round picks.

Oher starts at right tackle for the Ravens. He will eventually move to the left side when Gaither moves on.

Who knew that Sandra Bullock is Oher's mom?

..and Sandra looks good in the movie too. During MNF vs GB, it was mentioned that Bullock accurately portrayed the real character. In fact when Joe Flacco first met Oher's adoptive mother, she counseled him on "holding onto the ball too long".

On the Scott Van Pelt show, he picked the Humanitarian bowl as the worst bowl of the year. He did give props to Freddie Barnes saying that he thought he would play in the NFL next year. I don't think that it is the worst bowl game, but it certainly isn't real exciting on a national stage, so I can see where he is coming from on that.

As long as BG wins I don't mind the ranking of our bowl. Plain and simple, were in a bowl game for the first time in awhile. Not nearly as long as the vandals have gone with out one but still.

I am impressed you were able to forget the GMAC bowl, I wish I was able to forget it. :D
