What he means is that if Boise fans want to post on this board, it shouldn't be smack about the Vandals. there are boards specially made for that and we don't need to post anywhere else for that. What they should be talking about is possibly some great places in Boise to go during one's stay, for example. I see no need to talk about Vandulls or donks.Jacobs4Heisman wrote:Speak for yourself. Of course this was at the time when Idaho had won like 4 in a row and bsu was still 1-AA. I still remember the chants at the bsu games and we moved from there when i was 9......"GO ORANGE...GO BIG BLUE....FIGHT FIGHT....BSU!!!!!!!!!!"
Music to my ears! Glad to see our fight song made such an impression. Don't worry about the home crowd rooting for the Vandulls, the stadium will be orange and vocally against dui. Not to mention every vandull I know, except one, said they were not going to the game. Should feel more like a home game for your Falcons. Good luck and Ay Ziggy Zoomba from Boise.
You are playing Texas Christian University in the Fiesta Bowl. TCU is a school from the Mountain West Conference. The University of Idaho is playing Bowling Green State University from Ohio in the Humanitarian Bowl. BGSU is a school from the MAC conference.
With this in mind, if any of you BSU fans would like to discuss your school's superiority in football...and...well...um... just football. Please do so on your own message board. You can also post on the govandals.net message board in the "smack" forum. However, please remember football season is wrapping up and so you may want to temper your rhetoric before february rolls around (see Men's Basketball). Regardless, be sure to refrain from posting on the BGSU boards. These nice people really don't care about Idaho in-state smack, and it's really difficult not responding to your lunacy.

I understood what he meant. I appreciate the sentiment, but I personally enjoy the banter as long as it doesn't get out of hand, which it hasn't. Any time you get a chance to take a potshot at a rival, I say you take it.
F*** Toledo.
See?
F*** Toledo.

Roll Along!
Re: BG opens at -1 vs Idaho
Sounds good. The only problem is, it usually gets out of hand when it comes to UI/BSU. They can go on and on about their decade of football dominance, and we usually go on and on about our dominance in everything else.
Because I know little, to nothing, about Bowling Green (other than that Freddie Barnes might end up with 500 yards against us) what is the deal with your rivalries. That is, is Toledo your main rival, why? Do you have any other "rivals?"
At Idaho, BSU is most certainly our main rival. We hate them. However, we also have a "rivalry" with Washington State. This rivalry exists mainly because of the proximity between the two schools (7 miles) and because the two schools have over 100 years of competitive history. I say it's a rivalry in quotes because when the two schools aren't facing each other, many of the fans will cheer for both schools.

Re: BG opens at -1 vs Idaho
Most people consider our main rival to be Toledo. Their campus is twenty miles away from BG. Many including myself consider Miami to be just as big of a rival. We have an all time winning record against every single MAC team, except for Miami, and they have us beat by more than 2 to 1. Also there is a side rivalry with Kent State because BG and Kent were both created by the same act so they are both turning 100 next year. And I believe there is a rivalry brewing with Buffalo. Though we own the all time record against Buffalo and they only have 2 wins against us, both were huge. First win was their first over a D1A opponent since they became a D1A team, and the second was last year and the win clinched the MAC East for them - their first MAC title.
And he hate Ohio State. F*** the bucks.

Hey Vandal 427:
I spent a week in Pasco, WA a few years ago. It was the most unpleasant week of my adult life. I didn't realize WA state had a high desert region. Is Moscow the same (excuse my ignorance)??
I got a taste of the UI-BSU rivalry when I heard Mark Shlereth, UI alum, on ESPN Radio go on and on about how the Vandals were gonna take care of business during UI-BSU week. That's what make college football great; the passion!

I never realized UI and WSU were that close.

Re: BG opens at -1 vs Idaho
while it's true that the broncos and vandals have a heated rivalry, what makes this situation unique is that the bowl is in boise.
i only stopped by to wish the falcons the best of luck and to enjoy the hospitality if they make the long trip. though i have to admit, the "robb akey" thread was probably too tempting.
i suppose it wouldn't be unlike BGSU playing a bowl game in the glass bowl against the broncos. we'd probably get plenty of toledo fans stopping by broncocountry wishing us good luck and welcoming us to their city.
btw, we play toledo next year. any insights and suggestions would be appreciated.

Are you talking insights about beating Toledo or insights about where to eat/drink in NW Ohio? Can give both.

i believe they visit us next year. this will be the first meeting between boise and toledo, and we don't know much about them.
of course, that's a year away, but what the heck. you're playing our rival soon, and we'll be playing yours in a few months.
Re: BG opens at -1 vs Idaho
nice pic, btw! i can see my seats!

Hey boisebro
You won't have a problem with Toledo on the blue turf next year. You also shouldn't have a problem with them in the Glass Bowl in 2011.
Va Tech at FedEx Field next year may be another issue. That should be a good one.
