Freddie was robbed!

Post by kentuckianacoach »

In every single award presented tonight, the top statistic winner won the award except for Freddie. I know that there are people who would argue that BGSU's competition was not the caliber of Notre Dame's but football is football and you still have to get open and catch the ball as a wide receiver. I am and have never been a Notre Dame fan...and in this case ND stands for NOT DESERVING!

Freddie didn't have the best stats in the country... just the best stats of the players that were there.

How often do we see Non-BCS players winning these awards? Not surprised at all.

Freddie had the best stats in receiving TDs and receptions and was third in yards out of all of the FBS. Are those not the three most important statistical categories for a receiver?

He should have blindside tackled a cheerleader...probably would have won the Heisman.

Redskin4ever you need to go to the NCAA website and see that Freddie is indeed the best receiver in the nation. Golden Tate does not have one stat better than Freddie...again it proves Freddie was robbed! I don't care if you are a BCS school or not this is a FBS school and as I stated before football is football.

Football is football unless your not in the BCS it seems. In the early runnings of the program, after Gerhart won the trophy for best RB I started thinking that maybe they might actually base it on the stats but then I woke up. Tate is not deserving of this trophy at all. On another note, Tebow scared the heck out of me tonight. I caught him walking down the red carpet with what I first thought was a robot that had short circuited. I laughed but then felt bad when I found out it was actually a good deed done by him. Was it a publicity stunt? Maybe, but he sure made that girl feel good about herself and you cant top that. This will be the only time you will ever see me say this about tebow unless somehow he is picked up by the Packers in the NFL, but Good Job Tebow.

BCS Bullsh1t! The validity of the award was obviously diminished. We'll all have to wait five years and see where these finalists all end up.

I think that's a tough argument to make. MAybe soembody from Mount Union or someplace topped him but in this Division I would say Peregrinner is right on target. Nice article in the Blade today- barely mentions the winner-just the guy who should have won.

I guess from here on out the best receiver is the one who shows the least class - bitches and moans about PI on every single stupid drop, showboats to everybody including the refs, and swan dives into the opposing band.

Over at Texas's message board, there are several posts hinting that Shipley didn't win because of his race. I guess it could be worse.

That is, to put it simply, "obsurd."

"Absurd" works well too.

Of course, but why spell it correctly when it fits so well with the AZZ-coined "obsurd"?

So I was thinking Freddie was robbed until I looked back at the stat leaders. In the last game before voting, Tate dominated at Stanford (201yrds and 3TDs). Shipley and Freddie both put up "average" numbers. Also when you put the game by game numbers up, its hard to argue with Tates consistancy. Give credit where credit is due.

You're right, Tate did have a heck of a season and finished it off with a flurry (and no bowl game  ) I just think a little orange kool-aid and some brown sunglasses, combined with Tate acting like a douche at every turn, makes it a little hard to take.

Unfortunately, I think in the end, Freddie was up against the wall so bad, he needed four more Kent games to convince anyone past the "non-BCS" label. They just didn't see that behind the great numbers was a guy that did about everything he could to help this team win games down the stretch.
