BG vs Akron Tonight-Mac Opener....

Post by Falconboy »

Here we are at last. The beginning of our conference title defence. Akron was a 11 win team a year ago and it doesn't look like they are head any where near a top 5 finish this year either. Hopefully are girls are rearing to get after it in conference play. I've really enjoyed the play by the freshman this year. They've made some mistakes but they're improving every game. I really like the aggressiveness of Tamerlano and Steffen and Pappenfuss (Can we call her big Papi?) has a really nice strong inside game especially on the boards. She as a freshman has all the physicality to compete right now.

Great game last night by the women! Nice start to MAC play though it got a little scary when the game kept getting tied in the 1st half. 3 players were in double figures - Prochaska, Pontius, and Breske (who also had 4 blocks including 2 in back-to-back possessions!).
18 of 19 from the line!
Overall we played very solid game!

Crowd was probably one of the smallest this year, but you wouldn't have known it! We got intensely loud last night.

Let's beat Ohio!

Together we attack!

Yes, but I was disappointed in the fact that so many people were sitting down last night instead of standing. Are they true fans of the team? I mean.....even Coach Miller was seen sitting down two or three times last night. 8-) He must not be a real fan either! :axe:

I have a feeling there will soon be a need for the over-the-head emoticon.

On another note, I did like Coach Miller's high-step down the sideline in front of the bench when the refs were a little slow with the whistle. I'll have to watch the replay on BCSN to see if they caught it.

We were cracking jokes about that throughout the entire game
X was sitting about 6 people down from me in the front row.

Always great to start the MAC sked off right. Akron is definitely improving under Kest. However, BG leads the all time series with Akron 42-2. WOW.
