What do you think tix will cost of us for our usual the end zone? $75 each? Last I saw they were going for $67 each last year?

Everyone at OSU knows that BG folks are independently wealthy!

True. $300 or more for one game and 4 tix? Even I have a limit...I think.

I've had a blast at various BG games at UM, OSU, and Purdue over the years, but I think they've finally surpassed my spending limit. When I can buy tickets to 2 or 3 Browns games for the price of a singular BG-OSU game, that's too far for me. Especially considering nearly every Big10 game is televised nowadays, it's just not worth it for me. I do enjoy the OSU gameday experience, but not for $75+ per ticket...for the worst seats imaginable.

hammb - never been to the Shoe, but I suspect you're not alone in your position. i'd rather have a great watch party than plunk down that kind of money for crappy seats.

But you're not paying for the seats, you're paying for the privilege of watching a game at the Horseshoe.hammb wrote:I do enjoy the OSU gameday experience, but not for $75+ per ticket...for the worst seats imaginable.

Re: Bowling Green to play at Ohio State in 2011?
Maybe I am missing something in this conversation but are people critical of Ohio State and the prices they charge for tickets? In case you haven't noticed they have sold out every football game for something like 50 years. And they will sell out the Bowling Green game in 2011. Why would they charge less for tickets when they get 105,000 people at $65/ticket? I was not the best economics student ever but this seems like pretty basic economics to me.
Some local radio guys had a discusson on air one day a year or two ago about how high ticket prices could go before people stop buying them. This was before the current economic conditions but they were speculating that they could charge $100/ticket or more and still sell out. There are people in this town that will pay anything to go to that stadium at least once and if they have to spend a little above their means to do it, they will. There are probably people who give up a vacation to go to an OSU game, just the culture around here.

I'm on board with you, completely. If they can charge $75 and still sell the place out they'd be effing stupid to charge less than that. I'm all about good economics and making smart business decisions in a capitalist system. If BG were to suddenly have the tradition and success rate to start charging $75 per game and still sell out I'd want them to do it too. It is their responsibility to the athletic department to maximize revenues to continue sponsoring non-revenue producing sports.
All I am saying is that I think they have surpassed what I am willing to spend to watch a game in the horseshoe. I love the tailgating and the entire gameday experience in Columbus, but I don't think it's worth $75 per ticket. The last time I paid for tickets there I think I paid around $45 and that was a little more than I wanted to spend, but I did it. For $30 more I think I will pass and just watch the game on TV. Even though there is a lot of sarcasm in TG's comments, he's right on point. The price of those tickets is artificially inflated because people are willing to pay more just to watch a game at the Horseshoe. Given that I'm not a die hard OSU fan, that doesn't hold value for me, I just want the tickets to watch the football game.
I certainly don't fault OSU for maximizing their profits. I'm just saying they've taken them out of my price range. I'd much rather watch that game on TV and go to 2 Browns games for the same pricetag. I do know a few people that have OSU season tickets though, so I may try to scam some freebies off them for the BG game

Re: Bowling Green to play at Ohio State in 2011?
I agree...they have a waiting list 196 miles long and such a large fan base, both real and t shirt alumni, that those tix will always sell. I've been to all 4 games BG has played there and it's always cost a small fortune for 4. I'm thinking like hammb and its getting too much to spend. On the flip side, I wanna be in the stands if the upset happens.
Oh, 1992 and 2003 were a blast....not many feelings compare to knowing your "little" school is making that stadium sweat. 1997 and 2006 weren't as much fun.
Signing Day is two weeks off, the season is 7 1/2 months...not too long.

I'm thinking a watch party is in order. I know we have a LOT of time to think about it but still, I would love to be watching that game with as many Falcon Faithful as possible. How sweet would it be if it were a night game? I can guarantee that if it is a night game, we will be displaying it at my parent's house on a 40 foot screen. Oh yeah. That could be awesome.

It won't be a night game. Ohio State still doesn't have lights, and they only play night games there when they bring in portables for a big game. I doubt very seriously if BG qualifies.
OSU versus MAC games are typically at noon on a Saturday. 3:30 is a possibility as well, but I would be absolutely SHOCKED if it ended up as a night game.

I thought you were kidding about the lights until I looked at a picture of the 'Shoe and, sure enough, no lights.
