BG falls to Oakland by 24....77-53!!!
I didn't see that coming at all. Freddie came over late in the 2nd half of the women's game with a 61-45 score for men's bball on his dry erase board and I couldn't believe it. I think things will be turned around before Buffalo though. We still have a great team!

we need a packed house on sunday!!! This loss could be the best thing for us going in to mac play getting it out of the way, however it could start a very bad slide back down to years past. Come on bg we are better than this, i heard that they only had 10 players is that true? we lost to a team with 10 players and only one win all season??? that's bad we need to get this off our chest quick!!!

No it won't. The committee will say what it always says - mid-major teams have to strengthen their schedules.
The only way to guarantee a berth in the dance is to win the MAC tournament. The regular season means absolutely nothing but practice for the tournament. A regular season MAC championship should mean something to the tournament selection committee but we know it does not.

That's exactly right. Last night's game doesn't have any real effect on our future chances. We weren't going to get an at-large bid. My son asked me yesterday how many games you had to win to get into the tournament, and I told him you had to win your last 3 or 4--the tourney. The rest is just a warm-up.
I doubt we sell out Sunday, or even have much better a crowd than we had against IPFW. Still, its a big game, and we'll be there.

Yup. Bottom line - win the MAC tourney, go to the dance, no matter how badly you get whupped in a OOC game. It's simple, but effective.UK Peregrine Fan wrote:This game means very little to BG's season or chances to get into the tourney. Hopefully, this loss will motivate the team to elevate their level of play for the MAC season. If we have to have a strong showing in the MAC season and then win the MAC tourney, that's how we get to the tournament.

BTW guys and gals, look back to the Kent State Elite 8 team from a few years ago...that team finished 30-6...and lost to a Youngstown State team that finished the season with 3 wins...THREE.
It happens.
WIN THE MAC TOURNEY and we dance no matter what...anything less, I have no faith.

Outstanding find Mike. It really makes me think that it has to be tough to get up for OOC game likes these (Oakland and Youngstown that is). Like I stated, the game means little to nothing for qualifying for the NCAA tourney or to getting a MAC championship.Falconfreak90 wrote:BTW guys and gals, look back to the Kent State Elite 8 team from a few years ago...that team finished 30-6...and lost to a Youngstown State team that finished the season with 3 wins...THREE.

No doubt UK...and Oakland is no slouch of a team. They have played an absolute brutal schedule and I think the BG game was only their 2nd home game of the year. And we shot, what, 18%??UK Peregrine Fan wrote:Outstanding find Mike. It really makes me think that it has to be tough to get up for OOC game likes these (Oakland and Youngstown that is).
