TOLEDO will lose by 10 points tomorrow at Kent! Their receiving votes and being in the latest bracketology will be short lived.

I love it how we can never get any votes, but when a MAC team FINALLY beats us, THEY get votes. Screw you, voters! :finga:

Of all the polls and ranking services, the ESPN/USA Today poll is the closest to a popularity contest. It's a poll of about 40 D1 coaches, each of whom commit to participating for an entire year. Each coach represents one conference, our rep this year Sue Guevara of Central Michigan. These coaches don't have time to watch games that don't involve one of their future opponents. They have to make educated guesses based on ???? Coach Miller did it for a year and he admitted it was difficult.

My guess is UT got one vote from Central's coach, understandable since UT beat them and we haven't played them yet and maybe one from Hartford's coach (also a voting coach). She knows how tough we played against them and UT beat us. Just a guess.

Now, why WE weren't getting any love from them.... I think they're all haters :axe:

Coaches around the country have nothing but respect for Curt and what he has done with this program. People respect and fear us, and it shows in how many schools turn down scheduling requests because they don't want to do a home and home. When it comes to the polls, who really cares. Our success at Bowling Green isn't measured on top 25's, they are measured on regular season and tournament championships. They are measured on post-season appearances, and Curt has been very successful in that area. I have really been thinking about the state of the women's program lately. I think Curt has an opportunity to pull off something that Leon Barmore pulled off at La. Tech, and that is to build a program that competes nationally and has the opportunity to reach some final fours. Why? This coaching staff has already shown that they are some of the best at getting the most out of their players, and recruiting players that fit into the system very well. They are proven winners. The final piece to the puzzle will be the Stroh when it is finished. Anderson Arena is a great place in many of our hearts to watch a game. But I can only imagine how much better it will be for the players and fans at the Stroh. The upgrade in locker room facilities alone will be tremendous. More fans will show up, they are outpacing the men sometimes. For those that don't remember the La. Tech years, Coach Barmore took La. Tech to multiple Final Fours, competing with the big guns every year on the national stage. Coach Miller has that kind of potential at BG. You can't tell me it can't be done. Recruiting, Barmore had to recruit against a lot of the big names in the south. We have to recruit against fewer big names up in that area. Barmore's program wasn't a great program until he got there, BG's wasn't a great program until Curt got there. Yes, Barmore was able to recruit the likes of Sheryl Swoopes, but I think BG can land a couple of the bigger names in that area once the Stroh will be completed. Quit worrying about the polls, because we do get respect, it shows in the lack of interest from OOC opponents, and let's just enjoy what I believe can be a magical ride as long as Curt stays at BG.
