Even after the Utah game there was almost a fight between two players. What the heck could you still be figthing about at that point. It's not like they were caught up in the emotion of a tight game. FWIW Utah really did look like they belonged tomight. I wish they would have gotten to play a better team. And how about that screen pass with the pitch back? That play was cool.

I missed alot of that game due to work, and sheer apathy when I saw Utah was up a couple scores, so I didn't see that play.

Though I can only imagine the fight at the end went something like:
"Our coach bailed on us better than yours did."
"Nuh-uh, our coach bailed on us better than YOURS did."
"You're a stupidhead."
"No. You're a stupidhead."
"Mooooooommmmm! He called me a stupidhead!"

Did ABC stick around to see them give Walt Harris the Denny Stolz Memorial Trophy? :?

I agree Lane is a solid kick returner and pass catcher. I have always been a huge Stover fan b/c I know the kind of talent this guy has. B.J. Lane is a good running back but it always seems like he's a half step slow hitting the hole and doesn't break as many tackles as he ought to. I'm just biased b/c I like Stover so much.

While it would take a major break from the norm, why not go ahead and redshirt Macon next year unless you move him to LB which is conceivable as well.

Option,
The funny part of this is that, when I saw Macon(He's from my hometown of Sagamore Hills) play his Sr. year at Nordonia (year they lost the state championship game to C-Julienne and a certain BG QB in waiting), he almost NEVER played at LB. He was their go to RB, along with another kid, who played with him in same backfield at same time late in playoffs). Only time I recall him at a LB position was in certain situational times...So, I was surprised that BG listed him as a LB when he was 1st recruited... could be they saw his athleticism and thought the transition would be relatively painless... when he showed them his stuff at RB, they went back to drawing board.

61,

Thanks for the info, I just think that the athleticism that Dan brings to the table has been pretty well misused over the first two years in the program. I think that Dan and the program both benefit from a redshirt year. Lane and Pope are obviously capable of handling the running back duties next year and someone such as Petey Hood could gain valuable experience. Then in '06 when the depth would be needed, Dan would be able to come back as a junior with Petey as a sophomore and a year of experience under his belt. This conversation never takes place though if someone like small school stud Blaine Maag from Columbus Grove (NWC, Lima-area) show up on campus in the fall . . . Tim Conner, one of the other backs on my "Why Not Us?" list has since committed to Eastern Michigan. Tommy Tamaska is another Dayton area player, from the same league as verbals Alexander and Mahoney, that could fill the potential void at running back. Tamaska and Petey Hood would give us a "Thunder and Lightning" like attack . . .

Tamaska: http://scout.scout.com/a.z?s=73&p=8&c=1&nid=1200688

Maag: http://scout.scout.com/a.z?s=73&p=8&c=1&nid=1206024

Although, Maag lists tOSU as his preferred college destination despite not having an offer, which makes hm off-limits for us . . .

I just hate to have a kid sit for three years when RB depth is an obvious need and you fail to use a redshirt . . . At this point, either RB has to become a recruiting priority as opposed to signing 4 tight ends OR Dan Macon needs to be redshirted.

Haven't paid too close attention to this thread, but thought I'd throw this picture of Macon out there. . . guess he saw some special teams action:

Amen!

And I think BJ Lane is a heck of a football player. He is a solid running back (not great, but solid) and a very good kickoff return man. I think he is an excellent backup for Pope.
