North Carolina Basketball

Post by Redwingtom »

I must admit I had not been paying too close attention, but has anyone noticed what is going on in Chapel Hill?

If they lose to NC State on Saturday, it will not only be their 5th straight loss, but it will also place them in the basement on the ACC with a 13-12 overall record.

Wouldn't it be awesome to see them miss the NCAA tourney this year? Especially since their coach just compared their struggles to the earthquake in Haiti.

No, I would not be happy to see them miss the tourney, although that is clearly where this is headed. I have been a Heels fan since I was 9 years old and have been a die-hard fan through the Matt Daugherty/Bill Guthridge eras and now another rebuilding year mostly due to Zeller's injury.

Last night's game was the most amount of fight I've seen in that team all season. Of course, as soon as Duke got the ball, already up 6, with about three minutes to play, I knew the game was over. It's been a tough year but I won't even try to defend Roy's comparison to Haiti. Hadn't heard it, and glad I hadn't heard it.

This team might not even make the NIT which is really sad, seeing as they are the defending National Champions. Barring some kind of miraculous turn around and winning or getting to the ACC Championship game, this team will NOT be going dancing, ANYWHERE. That being said, watch out next year!

I heard it and he did not compare the team to the situation in Haiti. Why he would mention Haiti at all is questionable but he did not compare them. What he said is this:

"Massage therapist told me, she said, 'You know, coach, what happened in Haiti is a catastrophe. What you're having is a disappointment.' I told her that depends on what chair she was sitting in. Because it does feel like a catastrophe to me, because it is my life."

People get too worked up over this stuff- Just because someone else has it worse doesn't mean we can't have personal catastrophes. He didn't say Haiti wasn't a catstrophe, didn't say losing to Duke equalled an earthquake in HAiti, just said what we all feel at times-"it really sucks to be me right now".
