BG - UT via Rockets Radio Broadcast
Re: BG - UT via Rockets Radio Broadcast
...was just looking at the Blade's pictures of the game. Did we really get floor-rushed after the game ended??
Re: BG - UT via Rockets Radio Broadcast
Oh yes, there was massive, obnoxious celebration, just like there would have been in BG had we just broken a double digit losing streak against them.AyZiggy97 wrote:...was just looking at the Blade's pictures of the game. Did we really get floor-rushed after the game ended??
The thing I noticed (and I don't know if it was intentional or not) Curt did not rush the team into the locker room. They huddled up with all that madness around them, they saw, felt and heard it all. Do you think there might have been a few snide comments hurled their way? Inspiration for our next meeting perhaps.
Do you ever just get down on your knees and thank god that you know me and have access to my dementia?

I think Coach told the team "Soak this in cuz it ain't gonna happen the next time". And if any snide remarks were thrown the team's way, well, after losing 12 straight to us, one could understand why. We're still the team to beat and still the FIVE time defending MAC Champs. Jealousy is an ugly thing.BigGibber wrote:The thing I noticed (and I don't know if it was intentional or not) Curt did not rush the team into the locker room. There has been some very questionable rushing of the courts this year in college basketball. This happen to be another!AyZiggy97 wrote:...was just looking at the Blade's pictures of the game. Did we really get floor-rushed after the game ended??

I had not problem with it. They haven't beaten us forever and it was a record crowd and their emotions had to be over the top after overcoming a late 8 point deficit to post the win.Dukefann9er wrote:There has been some very questionable rushing of the courts this year in college basketball. The thing I thought was bush league was the Toledo player (who somehow ended up with a microphone) addressing the crowd. I could not understand what she said at first but it sounded like it was some type of rah-rah BS. She did then tone it down and just ask the fans to please come to the next game. Hopefully someone can let me know what she said first as I may have misunderstood her tone.

The UT Womens' Player, Mellisa Goodall (Not Her exact Words) Basicly Thanked the Toledo Fans for Showing up Today and Asked that they Return to Savage Arena for the Remaining Home games. No jabes or insulting remarks, Just Saying Thanks to the Fans
This has Happen on Numerious times Before Where a player or Coach Has Thank the Fans for Showing Up and Asking them to Come Back.

As I said, I heard the end part where she did that and had no issue with it. It just seemed like she said something before that that I could not exactly make out.bgsu93 wrote:The UT Womens' Player, Mellisa Goodall (Not Her exact Words) Basicly Thanked the Toledo Fans for Showing up Today and Asked that they Return to Savage Arena for the Remaining Home games. But it must have been "bush league".

Come on folks... This is common after a big win anywhere. I am sure if the game was at home and won bg would have done the samething. I was there and didn't mind the talk after the game.

I can't speak to the post game talking, so to say. But court rushes usually take place in an upset. As mentioned earlier, our head coach even thought Toledo was the favorite. Although that might be mitigated by BG's recent dominance.

Re: BG - UT via Rockets Radio Broadcast
While I can understand why a UT player would go to a microphone after 12 losses and the streak breaking win at home in front of a supportive crowd, I don't believe you will ever see this take place at BG as long as Curt Miller is coach. The players are coached to expect to win, work hard, be good winners, be respectful and so on. Not faulting the UT player or coach- I think it was nice she thanked the fans, but no I don't think you will see this under Miller.
You will see the BG players on the court postgame talking with fans or signing autographs and you will see them celebrate an emotional win at times.
Just not with a microphone. Not after five staright MAC titles. Just my feeling on it.

Re: BG - UT via Rockets Radio Broadcast
The first thing Goodall said when she took the microphone was something to the effect of "Toledo in the House!" As was stated earlier, she then thanked the crowd for coming, etc. Coach Cullop later took the microphone and did the same thing, IIRC, although I was out in the lobby/concourse by then.
I wasn't too enamored with all of the post-game speeches, but I agree that the same 'we just won the national championship' type of feeling might have taken place had this game been at AA and had BG just broken a long losing streak to the arch rival.

and on the flip side Coach Cullop may have been telling her team they were the underdog because of BG's recent dominanceAyZiggy97 wrote:As mentioned earlier, our head coach even thought Toledo was the favorite. Although that might be mitigated by BG's recent dominance.
bottom line is it was a fantastic basketball game and hopefully both teams meet again in the MAC championship game

Re: BG - UT via Rockets Radio Broadcast
Just to update this, just saw in the game notes for tomorrow's OU game that the women's tourney has switched the seeding to the way the men's tourney does it, division winners get the 1 and 2 seeds, with seeds 3-12 based on the overall standingsBGFalconfromCincy wrote:For the women's tournament seeding is based on division finish, not overall finish, if we win the east again we'll be on the same side as the west #2Rollo83 wrote:Just wonder if this loss will impact our seeding at the MAC Tourney? Toledo now wins the tie breaker with us base on head-to-head and we would have to play in the same side of the bracket as #2 and #3 seeds.

Happen to hear a little of the Toledo Ball State game... "Ball" according to the Toledo announcer. He kept calling Ball State Ball... Really? And he was like if Toledo won that game they would be MAC champs.. Wrong ! haha
