We're Entering the Home Stretch

Post by Salsa »

Tomorrow, Jan. 3, is the end of a dead period for recruiting (no personal contact) that has been in effect for the last few weeks. So, we're entering the home stretch that leads up to signing day the first week in Feb.

You can bet the coaching staff is very busy right now preparing for this home stretch.

We might well begin to get some more recruiting news, hopefully verbal committments, in the coming days.

nickskin posted the following on miami hawktalk. It's an easier read than the NCAA's .pdf calendar

RECRUITING 101:

Starting tomorrow, the "dead period" for recruiting ends. A "dead period" means that NO in-person, on- or off-campus recruiting contacts or evaluations may be made.

A "contact" period is that period of time when it is permissible for authorized athletics department staff members to make in-person, off-campus recruiting contacts and evalulations.

An "evaluation" period is that period of time when it is permissible for authorized athletics department staff members to be involved in off-campus activities designed to assess the academic qualifications and playing ability

From January 2nd thru January 8th, college coaches are allowed to both contact and evaluate student athletes.

January 9th is deemed a "quiet" period. A "quiet" period means that ONLY in-person recruiting contacts on the school's campus are permissible. NO in-person, off-campus recruiting contacts or evaluations may occur during this period.

January 10th thru January 13th is a "dead" period.

January 14th and 15th is deemed a "quiet" period.

From January 16th thru January 29th, college coaches are allowed to both contact and evaluate student athletes.

January 30th is deemed a "quiet" period.

January 31st thru February 3rd is deemed a "dead" period.

February 2nd is the first day a student/athlete can sign a LOI.

Just about 1 month to go until NLI Day!
