"...inside the friendly confines of the Ice Arena With No Name."

Maybe I just haven't been paying attention, but is this part of some sort of naming campaign that you have contrived, Drew? Either way, I'm not against it.

It could be an insanely interesting debate to see who or what the folks here would like to see the IA named after given the history in that building. One that I don't think I have ever really seen before.

I and only I refer to it as the Ice Arena With No Name. I really don't mean it as anything else as a joke to myself.

I find it disappointing that after 40 years it's still the only sports facility we call home that doesn't honor a Falcon. I've been in favor of renaming the arena part the Vivian Ice Arena and calling the whole facility the Bowling Green Ice Center. You honor the importance of Dr. Vivian to the program and honor the community in its support of the facility.

Wow. I like it.

I'll be there in Section H behind the BG bench. Made very sure not to sit anywhere near the student section after my last game up there.

I think it should be called the Cooper-Vivian Arena, to honor the one who started it it and one who will bring it back to glory!!!

"BG was relentless. It's like they know that a good first pass on the breakout from a defenseman will almost always result in an odd-man rush against them - but they go in anyway and dare you to make that pass. All three of their goals were just grit and effort. That's a team any fan can be proud to support...they give all they've got."

I honestly see no problem with leaving it as The BGSU Ice Arena. Simple, easy, and been that way for over 30 years....

But, if I had to make a suggestion, in honor of hard work and dedication I suggest Woody Jones Arena.

I'll be there Friday night, with a crew of fellow students. Don't yet know where we'll sit, though. Can you purchase tickets near our bench from our ticket office? Usually when I go up there, I but at the door and get stuck in a corner away from other BG fans...

I bought mine online on the MSU site and was able to choose seats behind our bench. I'd recommend that if you want to choose.

For anyone heading up Friday I'd suggest you get your tickets ahead of time. It's State's Senior Night and they'll be showing the quarterfinal of the Olympics before the game.

more on pregame Friday:
February 25, 2010 12:05 PM
East Lansing, Mich. - Hockey fans who don't want to miss the Michigan State hockey game or Team USA's semifinal matchup with Finland on Friday are in luck - the MSU Athletic department has made it possible for you to catch both!

Michigan State plays Bowling Green on Friday evening in a rare 6 p.m. start, but will open the doors to Munn Arena for that evening's ticketholders to watch the U.S. game on the video boards at 3 p.m. Doors will open at 2:50 p.m. so that fans can cheer on Team USA, led in goal by Spartan great Ryan Miller, as it battles with Finland; the winner will play in Sunday's gold medal game.

Michigan State's four seniors will be honored in a pre-game ceremony which is scheduled to begin at approximately 5:40 p.m. The puck will drop for the game between Michigan State and Bowling Green at 6:05 p.m.
All is for the best in this best of all possible worlds.
