Chauncey Orr
Chauncey Orr
Any speculation about the BGHS player becoming a Falcon.
Re: Chauncey Orr
I have seen him play 7-8 times this year, and he just keeps getting better. Size wise, he is sort of a "tweener" at about 6'4" but I really think he has enought ball skills to be a guard, maybe even a point. He can definitely take over a HS game. I sure would be happy if he came to BG.
Re: Chauncey Orr
With the new arena and his dad as a coach I would say the Falcons have a very good chance of landing him. I hear he is very close to his father.factman wrote:I have seen him play 7-8 times this year, and he just keeps getting better. Central Michigan has an interesting situation on their hands with Trey Ziegler, the son of CMU head coach (and former BG assistant) Ernie Ziegler.
He's considered one of the top guards in the nation with offers from places like Duke, UCLA and Michigan State, but he hasn't ruled out the Chippewas.

Please tell me that his name isn't really Trey.

That would be awesome if he went to Central instead of one of the big boys. I dont care if they run the league for a few years we need talent. Zeke Marshall should be a stud pretty soon as well.

I'm sorry if this is a stupid question, but if Orr came to BG would he get free tuition because his dad is an employee of the university? Meaning, they wouldn't have to worry about dishing out a scholarship or anything...I dunno how that works?

BGFootball,
You raise a good question...and one that I thought of too when I first read the start of the thread.... Only problem I see is the possiblility that this "skirts" the NCAA rules re: number of scholarships allowed...even though technically he wouldn't BE on scholarship... Other question.... does BG even still HAVE that policy..i.e. free tuition etc for children of employees?
FF1- I think we need your "expertise" on this one.

According to this document (dated 9/04) it looks like they do as long as the employee has been full-time for 3 years.Class of 61 wrote:Other question.... does BG even still HAVE that policy..i.e. free tuition etc for children of employees?

Tinkering with it, but it will not go away.LowryFalcon wrote:Last I heard BG was doing away with it.

Re: Chauncey Orr
A more interesting question: If it is his own kid, does this have any impact on the NCAA rules related to recruiting?
I mean, if we ask him about his son coming to BGSU, and he says, "we are talking about it," would the NCAA seriously hold that against him?
Jay Laranaga was a nice addition to BGSU's teams of that time.
