If we finish this on top, Orr will be 3-0 against Kent at home. Not bad. During these past three years Kent and Akron have been right at the top of the MAC. Now if we can start consistently beating Akron ...

BG can't hit a shot so far in the second half. Several players in foul trouble. Lead is down to 7 and Kent has the ball.

There went the lead. Kent opened up second half on a 19-9 run to cut the lead down to 2 with just over 12:00 remaining

BG down by 6 with under 3:00 remaining.

Otis fouled out but was having a nice game. 21 pts, 9 boards, 5 for 5 from the foul line.

A BG loss pretty much seals its fate in playing on the road in the MAC first round with OU, Eastern and Western now all jumping us or beating us in the tie breakers.

BG loses 75-69. Dropping them down to the #10 seed if season ended today.

WOW, 30 fouls called in the 2nd half.

Sucks to lose a 12 pt half time lead.... :x

Seemed like we didn't come out with the same intensity we had in the 1st half.

Damn! A very costly loss, especially since we built a nice lead at halftime (which was a change as we seem to usually trail at halftime) and Ohio beat Miami on a last-second three to drop BG in the basement. We have got to find a way against Akron, a team we have lost to five consecutive times at HOME, as the MAC Tournament is really starting to look like a first-round road game for BG as we stand there now. Tough night...

We just flat out couldn't defend in the second half. Every possession KSU either had an easy layup, an open 3, or we were forced to foul them. And foul them we did. I don't think Otis had a single foul in the first half and then fouled out easily in the 2nd. Thomas spent the entire 2nd half with 4 fouls, and Marschall picked up his 4th pretty early as well.

On top of a putrid defensive half we couldn't put anything together offensively either. Polk, and to a lesser extent Thomas, was pretty much our only scoring throughout most of the half.

As great as the first half was, the second half was just as awful. KSU really stepped it up and played outstanding, but we certainly didn't help ourselves with the defensive lapses and constant turnovers...

Does anyone else think that officiating is ruining college basketball? All of the "hands on" and "body bumping" have turned it into a form of hockey on wood! Pretty soon we'll be having 5-3 basketball scores, ;-) not to mention the inconsistency of the calls, in that sometimes they call ticky tack stuff and other times they wouldn't call a mugging. Is this only going on in the MAC or other conferences too?

I won't argue that the officiating cost us the game last night, but it was definitely terrible. No consistency, everything seemed random. Then in the 2nd half everything was a foul. There was at least one jump ball called where I don't think a player from the opposite team even had a hand on it, let alone simultaneous possession. All in all, the game was called just BADLY.

I'm with ya, I just wish there was some consistency. I would prefer the game to be more open and less physical, but if it is at least consistent I could deal with it either way.

i really thought we had this game! Great first half, second half not so great... last few mins was fun sitting in the stands though... that was a good time.

but i agree the officiating was so not letting the game play. just let them play! Even people who don't like to go against the officials were saying it was very one sided in the second half, and i agree. Not much can do now, well hope don't see those officials again for a while!

I'm sure the MAC office wouldn't be opposed to Kent and Akron "winning out" to give the conference a "shot" at two NCAA bids! Maybe the officials are helping make it happen.  I think that is the third or forth time we have had Terry Wymer this year and the bald guy never has liked us. How about that phantom jump ball he called late in the game when Dee Brown was driving to the basket?
