As much as I dislike Akron and the Akron basketball program, men or women, I do have have a little bit more respect for its coach. These were some pretty nice comments to say about Coach Miller. Especially it being the first line in his opening statement in his press conference on Saturday.
RESPECT: While waiting for the Akron-BG men's game to begin Saturday afternoon in Anderson Arena, Akron head coach Keith Dambrot was sitting in the stands watching BG's women play Kent State. And he may have been taking some notes.
"Congratulations to coach Miller. Six in a row (MAC divisional titles); that's unbelievable," Dambrot said in opening his post-game press conference after the men's game. "I like women's basketball, and I especially like watching good women's basketball.
"The one thing I did learn is that guy wins," Dambrot added. "You're lucky to keep him. They must be paying him a lot of money. How much do they pay him? They need to pay him. That guy's done an unbelievable job.
"Do you know how hard it is to win six MAC championships in a row with the parity where everyone has the same resources? This isn't like the Big Ten or the ACC. That guy's my idol."

Re: RESPECT
Anyone that watches Curt coach understands how good he is. What says more about Curt Miller is that he has kept his entire staff intact from the very beginning. His staff has been together longer than any staff in I believe a 5 state area. If someone sees him, he can answer that question. Curt is just a winner. I really believe that he has the opportunity to make this BG into what Lousiana Tech was with Leon Barmore. I am not saying that we are going to make a lot of final fours. But I am talking about taking a school and building it into at leat an at large team year in and year out. He has already done a great job with fan support, and with the new arena, he will get even more of the recruits that might go somewhere else. More wins equal more fans. Keeping more of the best talent equals continued success.
Akron has a pretty good coach also. Jodi has Akron finally moving in the right direction. It took getting rid of some pretty good players to find players that buy into her system. But I think we have learned this year the direction they are headed. I am going to make a prediction that Ball State, Toledo, Akron and BG will be the upper echelon of the MAC as long as each school keeps their current head coach. Bob Lindsey has proven that he is a winner, but I don't think he is as good as those four. Curt is obviously the best coach in the conference, but our reign as a superior team in the conference is going to be much harder now. Someone posed the question of whether Curt had brought up the level of the rest of the conference. Yes, he has.

Re: RESPECT
That was pretty cool of Dambrot to say those things. Speaking of winners, Dambrot is one as well. He has done a great job over at Rhodes Arena.
