Now that is going to be some bulliten board material in a few weeks when Toledo travels north to Ypsi.

UT-EMU Game...meaningless

Post by HoopsFan »

It was funny. I tuned into the game during OT when it was 80-72 and the announcer said the game was "meaningless" because it would not change the standings. Yeah? Why did UT fight so hard to win it then?

I just missed the coach on the postgame show, but I gather it was pretty short and she was not happy.

I was :-)

Sounds like this toledo "announcer" is a real winner...or is that whiner? Wish I knew who it was so I could email them about BG winning yet ANOTHER MAC title. :-D

And at the time that you tuned in, it was a meaningless game since we had just beaten Miami. He was correct. We clinched the regular season championship and To.....Tol.....the Rockettes had clinched the MAC West. The standings weren't going to change at that point.

Slaps forehead. What was I thinking? Geeze, James didn't need to score 40 points and Shafir wound up with 21 from something like 5 or 6 with 5 minutes to play. The refs should have blown the whistle and they could have turned off the scoreboard and called the game

Horse, one on one, church league, high school, backyard with my daughters- I have nEVER played in a menaingless game. The UT women's announcer is weak as in VERY weak. No excuses. It's not just homerism either- he's bad.

Worse even than the BG student announcers who I grew to love after my favorite play call of all time a few years back-

"Handoff to Miles, he bulls straight ahead- AND a huge hole on the left side and Miles is churning through it, dragging tacklers and FINALLY brought down on the far side of the field! Second and eight Bowling Green". That kind of stuff ya just gotta love!

Joe Bob Miles, walk-on RB from 2003, 4 career carries for -3 yards. Actually, it was a few years ago but I couldn't think of a running back except Miles, Preston and my favorite, Chip Otten. So I inserted Miles' name. I'm far too young to have seen him play in person, of course.

That would explain it- and since you explained it for me I'll buy the next round of Geritol!
