Yes I know this is a bit late, but I wanted to share my thoughts from the BG vs Providence game at Dartmount last week (I day-tripped from Queensbury, NY). Ufortnatley I did not get to take in the BG vs Dartmouth game the night before which apparantly was a "gooda" as the New Englanders say. But it sure was a treat to see the Falcon icers 2004-2005 team in action vs Providence.
I sat during the first and second periods by about three pro scouts and moslty listened to their comments on both BG and Prov. They were talking very highly about Matsumoto and Unger. Both are being watched now with a lot more intensity than earlier in the season. A number of comments were made on how they hoped to see Sigalet in goal but they certainly understood the need to rest him.
BG looks so much better than they have in the past. That goes without saying. But the thing that impressed me the most was their team speed, intensity and puck control. It has gotten so much better. It is very evident on the power play and how they can get back to defend in front of Sigalet/Horell. The freshman class is just outstanding. Reminded me a lot of when I was at BG wathcing the 1986 thru 1990 teams with guys like Potvin, Emerson, etc..
Got to meet BGBill and his wife which was nice. Also spent some time talking with Matsumotos mother. Very nice lady. I told her that her son is a part of a great tradition of hockey at BG and she said that he loves it.
Eventhough BG did not finish well in the tournament. I am more pumped about this team than ever. Support the team as much as you can a cheer these guys on!!
Not sure why Pilkington was not dressed. Is he hurt? Couldn't get an answer to that one.....
