BG scores 1 but UNO tacks on 2 more. 6-1 final, and a sweep for UNO.

Tough end to a tough season. Can't wait for October.

Well, crap! At least we never have to travel to Omahaha again.

I know it was a tough year but things are looking up for this program. Thanks to Dennis, the players and the staff for all they've done to get this program back on the road to success.

I agree 100%!!!!
"Regarding BGSU, I would think their biggest strength is that they never give up, They never slow down and they battle hard even after the other team scores. We have to be on our game and never, ever take the foot off the gas for a second."

"BG was relentless. It's like they know that a good first pass on the breakout from a defenseman will almost always result in an odd-man rush against them - but they go in anyway and dare you to make that pass. All three of their goals were just grit and effort. That's a team any fan can be proud to support...they give all they've got."

Unfortunately, despite our hopes that things would turn out differently, the script is still the same when it comes to BG hockey in the playoffs, especially against Omaha. We get our brains beat in every time, save for that one series against Lake Superior in 2008.

That being said, we all knew that this was going to be a difficult year, and I was actually very happy with how the team played early on and then again down the stretch. It'll be interesting to see if and when this team grows into a contending force. As probably the biggest downer when it comes to BG hockey on this message board, believe me when I say that nothing would make me happier than to see us contending with the Miamis, Michigan States, etc at the top of the conference. It'll take some time, but I have faith that Williams has a good thing going. Getting back to the level we were at in 2008 should be the first goal.

I agree Williams seems to have something going, but if we are to really compete at the top level of the CCHA he HAS to start bringing in more top flight talent the likes of JST and fill out our lines with them. It seems we only have a bout one top flight line and then the talent and/or size physicality of them drops off considerably from there. 1 top tier line won't cut it , we need more talent on this team so we can compete line to line the whole game with the ND's , MSU's, Michigans, Miami's night in and night out.

The issue there is keeping them around, imagine if this year's team had Sexton, Cepis and Bailen playing on the power play. (That would be freshman year Cepis, not sophomore year Cepis.) Stability, an improved arena and a coach that people want to play for will all go along way towards making that happen.

Next year's recruits are sounding pretty good and if guys like Vargas, Sinclair, and Rodriguez keep improving as much as they did over the course of this season we should get there. The better we get as a team we can recruit better players and things keep improving. Out of the basement next year, home ice in the playoffs the year after that...

I think things are looking up but it's not going to happen overnight.
I love people who can laugh at themselves. It saves me the effort.
