I'd also like to see another big receiver at the Z both to give. You need receivers that can block (like Corn McGrady and James Hawkins) in the spread and I was hoping Hutcherson might be the guy. He hardly saw the field this year and he's really going to have to step it up if he's to contribute next season.

Not to defend the original post, but Brandon Jones is the only returning receiver other than Chuck and Steve with starting experience (Ball State last year when Chuck went home for a funeral). With Partridge, Parks, Lett, Brantley, Jones, Hutcherson, Kennedy, and Alexander, the competition this spring should be fun. That's a little different than 5 yearrs ago when we trouble finding a 3rd and 4th wide receiver.

I would think that a guy ranked among the top 75 receivers would have cracked the line-up by now, that's what I meant by not living up to the hype, I don't think expectations was used, but if so then I guess that's valid as well.

Marques Parks is from the same area as Hutcherson (greater Pittsburgh) and signed late, I believe when Latkiewicz' scholarship opened up due to the heart ailment or another scenario, but Parks has been listed on the Two-deep depth chart while being redshirted as has Partridge. Both have blazing speed, but must step up to show they have the hands of Magner and the sturdiness of Hawk

Are you saying Keon wasn't fast enough?

Okay , my bad on Parks....

I had no idea we already had him on the roster. All this time I thought he was a prospective '05 recruit. How big is this Parks kid, whats his other stats?

Maybe Dustin Martin comes back to the team. Not sure exactly why he left, it could have been due to the fact that he didn't get a full scholarship and wasn't slated to start this year as a true Sophomore.

But if he does come back it serves a reminder that in the 4Q against Toledo in 2003 the staff had enough confidence to put him in and have Josh throw to him in double coverage. I know, one play doesn't make much of a prediction.

We might want to consider that the short routes are the bread and butter of this offense and a TE-type might be more durable than 6' 190 lb of 'Go Fast'...look at the recruits seems like a lot of talk about TE's in addition to those on the two-deep already. By the time the MAC figures it out, Brandon will have a new look....Keepin it Fresh.

Falconboy,
Now you see why some of us "jump" on you when you make some of your posts... Marques Parks did indeed come in late on scholarshop as Option mentioned , first as a DB, then was switched to WR, as was Corey Partridge. He' about 5'11"-6', 190 or so...my info. says they want him to play at around 200, which he should be able to do... had an outstanding career in HS (as do most of the kids), with quite a few interceptions as a DB, hence the original designation by the staff....is also supposed to be an EXCELLENT kick returner, which may be a way for him to hit the field a lot in his RSFresh. year, along with some time at WR. I only know one thing that I've expressed before...if I were a HS Wideout and saw our offense, I'd go crazy to come here and play. Probably only drawback is that catches are spread out so much, depending on who's "hot" or what game plan dictates, that we didn't have the All-MAC designations that we felt some kids deserved. (But most couldn't argue against Ridgeway and DesLauriers, based on their productivity and numbers in that regard)

Yes...as good as Keon and Patton were last year, neither one of them had the top line speed to stay with the faster WR's. Keon was much more effective as a safety and he has a chance to play at the next level as a safety. 8)  :(   :o  :-\ :x
It's not the fall that hurts...it's when you hit the ground.
