Eastern Michigan, Kent State, and Toledo get to continue their season in the WNIT. Good luck to them all. (Yeah, I know. But having the MAC compete well in the non-conference can only help all of us.)*
I have to wonder - how much of these three teams getting invited is on us and Ball State? None of them were required to be invited, they all got at large bids.
Since 2006, BG has made it to the Sweet 16, BG has made it out of the first round of the WNIT, BG has made it out of the first two rounds of the WNIT, and Ball State has made it out of the first round of the NCAA tourney while knocking off defending national champs Tennessee. Has it finally come to pass that MAC Women's Basketball is getting the respect it deserves?

You do realize that the WNIT took 64 teams. Thus there are 128 teams in the Women's Post Season this year. So, some past MAC success in the NCAA may help a little bit but the sheer numbers would dictate at least 3-4 from the MAC. If you look at the WNIT, there are teams in like Samford and Florida Gulf Coast etc. Not traditional hotbeds of Women's College BB.
Florida Gulf Coast and Samford got in not by at large bids, but by their conferences automatic bid. The regular season winner of both leagues won their conference tournaments. That leaves the second place team during the regular season as the automatic qualifier.

No.

Did anyone look at the bracket? Toledo faces Pittsburgh in the first round, and Kent State drew Michigan. If both win they then face......each other. Seriously? What a crappy setup.

The WNIT field is usually set up strictly according to geography, making it so that teams don't have to travel long distances for games. This is the obvious drawback, making it so that teams from the same conference often can and do play each other in the early rounds.

if geography plays into it... then why didn't Toledo draw Michigan and Kent State get Pittsburgh... both teams will be traveling past each other to play these games now...

actually that isnt the case since Toledo is hosting Pitt, both Pitt and Kent are traveling west for their games
