Thanks Butler!

Post by Falcon Fanatic »

I know you didn't win it, but thank you for a great game by an awesome mid-major team! You showed that mid-majors CAN play with the big boys!!

Way to represent!!!!
"Regarding BGSU, I would think their biggest strength is that they never give up, They never slow down and they battle hard even after the other team scores. We have to be on our game and never, ever take the foot off the gas for a second."

"BG was relentless. It's like they know that a good first pass on the breakout from a defenseman will almost always result in an odd-man rush against them - but they go in anyway and dare you to make that pass. All three of their goals were just grit and effort. That's a team any fan can be proud to support...they give all they've got."

After that game, I was just hoping that maybe the ESPN talking heads would realize that the reseeding they were touting would have cost the public such a great game. All I heard was how Duke vs. WV was probably the title game and that the final four should be reseeded to make it work out better. Then WV gets blown out by Duke and Butler loses by only 2. Imagine if they had reseeded, WV somehow made it to the final against Duke, and then lost by 21 points there. I for one would just be ECSTATIC that we pitted the best two teams against each other in the final!

Of the final four, I think West Virginia showed they were the fourth best team, so the seeding was correct.

Butler missed so many shots last night that were easy lay-ups. I counted as few as 8 points to as many as 18 points that Butler should have scored had they made the 2-5 foot shots. Absolutely frustrating, and I'm sure it was frustrating for them as well. But, they almost held them to under 60 points, which nobody thought they would come close to doing.

WAY TO GO BUTLER!!!!!!!!

Every beach we were on in Florida there were plenty of people wearing Butler shirts...every one of them got a "GO BUTLER" from me.

You did well...and were 1 or 2 shots away from being national champions.

Must say I loved watching Butler get their hearts ripped out. Much better for them to lose that way than to get blown out. Go Duke!*

For a variety of reasons I hate Butler. Any other mid-major and I'd be thrilled to see them win. Although I do like Duke, a small school that wins, doesn't cheat and graduates players.

H20, you are the kind of guy that sits in the middle of a theater or church and passes gas, aren't you?

I was definitely rooting for Butler. Indianapolis has gone crazy the past few weeks. right after Saturdays win, the local CBS affiliate was broadcasting live from downtown getting reaction, and the long time news anchor woman read straight from the teleprompter, "Butler comes up short against Michigan State". I wonder what else she would have read without realizing it?

Did anyone else hear this last night during the broadcast?

Even though the Butler basketball team stayed in a downtown hotel all weekend the players were shuttled back to campus and attended morning and afternoon classes.

I am going to go out on a limb and say that Butler would be the only team EVER, in any sport,
to attend classes the same day they competed for a National Championship.

Duke won another title, but clearly Butler was the darling of the games. Normally I watch the post game festivities, but Butler having lost, there just wasn't much joy or interest in seeing Duke again.

I'm not knocking Duke, great coach, fine program, excellent school. But after a tourney where you had upsets all over the place, and the story was seemingly anything OTHER than Duke, to have them win seems to spoil the whole buzz of the tourney. At the very least, it was a far closer game than they wanted to have.

That's what you get for watching the local CBS affiliate.

 Your right that is why I watch your channel for news only. I thought I would have heard the mistake mentioned locally but I haven't. It was so bad and funny at the same time. She just sat their smiling after she said it, she didn't even realize it.

The only thing I watch WISH for is when I want someone to read Facebook to me.

Just saw on Deadspin that the Star even posted a "Butler Wins" headline on their web site before the game was over.

There's a big difference with being able to read a teleprompter with a smile on your face and actually comprehending what it is you're reading.
