Senior Recognition Hockey Banquet & Award Winners

Post by Falcon Fanatic »

Great attendance, especially for a Tuesday night!! My respect for Dennis Williams was always very high, but after tonight, he reached a new high in being a total class act. The speech he gave tonight was very touching and totally from the heart.

Here are the award winners (aka, the Kyle Page Show!):

Jack Gregory Scholar Athlete Award: Brian Moore (3.6 gpa) and Kyle Page (3.6 gpa)

Sam Cooper Trophy for Team Leading Scorer: Jordan Samuels-Thomas

Howard Brown Coaches Award: Josh Boyd

Dr. Ron Zwierlein Leadership Award: Kyle Page

Bill & Helen Lloyd Most Improved Player Award: Tomas Petruska

Dr. Tom Wojchiechowski Recognition Award (My personal favorite tonight!!): The Legacy Daughters!!!! Melissa & Jennifer Pikul, Stephanie Wilson, and Shay Galley for the T-Shirt fund raiser they started to support the program. I am SOOOOO proud of these girls!!! They are AWESOME!!!!

Jim Sears Most Valuable Player Award: Kyle Page

CONGRATS TO ALL!!!
"Regarding BGSU, I would think their biggest strength is that they never give up, They never slow down and they battle hard even after the other team scores. We have to be on our game and never, ever take the foot off the gas for a second."

"BG was relentless. It's like they know that a good first pass on the breakout from a defenseman will almost always result in an odd-man rush against them - but they go in anyway and dare you to make that pass. All three of their goals were just grit and effort. That's a team any fan can be proud to support...they give all they've got."

So very sorry that Mrs Freddie and I were not able to attend tonight. I'm not at all surprised that Willy handled himself with dignity, class and passion.

His speech was absolutely amazing. Talk about taking the "high road" in an personally difficult situation.... He gave a clinic in how to do it tonight!!!

Also, a Special Thanks to Van Wright (Assistant to the Vice Provost for Enrollment Management; aka Admissions Officer) who was our Master of Ceremonies! He did a great job and his enthusiasm is very contagious!!!

Coach Williams is class all the way. Great heartfelt speech tonight. Got to sit with Wade Finnegan, what a great kid. Very enjoyable evening and nice job by MC Van Wright. Thanks to all the seniors and to Coach Williams. When we win the national championship again, this team will be remembered as the team that turned the corner for us and set a great foundation for the future.
