I have a very good idea as to why the coach is giveing out the scollies to all these TE's :) I just read on rivals a TE who also played on the DL is coming here for a visit on the 21 of this month. His name is Rick Solak and he is from the state champs Youngstown Mooney's (sp) He was 1st team all state this past year and it says he is also a Big Athlete who could play on either side of the ball. So you see the reason why right now we got 4 TE's verbaled to us is cause at lease 2 of them i believe will be on the DL next year and i think it will be the 2 who stand 6'5 230 the JC transfer and the kid from Ill who is 6'4 245 will be the other 2 on the depth chart with Shaun O' (can't remember how to spell his last name) who is a RS So.

That is what they have done with Winovich. They are moving him to linebacker.

The one guy is only 230lbs.? If he is going to be even a DE he's got to put on at lest another 30lbs. We are still very thin at DT. 6'5 is nice height but 230 won't get it done. So unless Coach Hillman has got some awesome weight gain potion for these guys , he looks better at linebacker.

Maybe we are going to have our own hit squad. One play. 2 or 3 TE's line up as WR and level a rogue CB. A cheap shot NIU DB perhaps?

Are you saying that if I drop my wallet near falconboy, I should kick it a few feet away before I bend over to pick it up?

I WAS LOOKING AT THE 2004 FOOTBALL MEDIA GUIDE AND NOTICED THAT MANY OF OUR OFFENSIVE LINEMEN HAD PLAYED DEFENSIVE LINE AT SOMETIME IN THEIR HIGH SCHOOL CAREERS. SINCE MOST OF THESE PLAYERS ARE IN THE 6'4 280 POUND RANGE WHEN RECRUITED I WAS WONDERING WHY SOME OF THEM ARE NOT USED ON THE DEFENSIVE LINE. IF REDSHITED AND PUT IN THE WEIGHT ROOM THEY WOULD BULK UP TO 290 POUNDS OR MORE. AS WE KNOW WE HAVE AN UNDERSIZED DEFENSIVE LINE WHICH IS OK WHEN BG PLAYS MEDIOCRE TEAMS BUT WHEN WE PLAY TEAMS THAT RUN THE BALL WELL WE STRUGGLE TO MATCHUP. ALSO, WE HAVE PROBLEMS PUTTING PRESSURE ON THE QUARTERBACK WITH LINEMEN AS SMALL AS OURS.

THE MAJOR DIFFERENCE I SAW BETWEEN BG AND UTAH WAS THE SIZE AND STRENGTH OF UTAH'S DEFENSIVE LINE. THEY SIMPLY OVERPOWERED PITTSBURGH'S OFFENSIVE LINE AND SACKED PITT'S QUARTERBACK 9 TIMES IN THE FIESTA B0WL. AGAINST SOUTHERN CAL A COUPLE YEARS EARLIER THEY SACKED CARSON PALMER 8 TIMES.

WE SEEM TO RECRUIT MANY MORE OFFENSIVE LINEMEN THAN WE DO DEFENSIVE. I THOUGHT MAYBE SOMEONE COULD HELP ME UNDERSTAND WHY WE DON'T CONVERT SOME OF THEM TO THE DEFENSE.

I'm just pulling your leg...I think we recruit plenty on both sides of the ball, but we seem to lose more on the defensive side. This year we lost Campbell for some undisclosed reason and Latkiewicz because of his heart condition and then we lost Leininger for disciplinary reasons. We seem to lose a guy or two each year (Cameron Durham, Dex Wallace, Jamaal Bryant) but the Olinemen just seem to stick around...

And...........

Post by Falconboy »

Thats going to bite us big in the butt soon if we don't go after some good sized d-lineman in this recruiting class. This one prospect some of you are referring to is only 230lbs. as a d-lineman. He's atleast 25lbs away from being just an effective DE , unless this guy runs a freakin' 4.4 40 which I'm sure he doesn't. If the guy has a frame that can add 25 to 30 pounds no problem great. We have got to be a PHYSICAL defense next season if we wanna take our play to the next level.

Your obsession with heights and weights baffles and amuses me....
Does it extend to ohter areas of your life? Do you shop at Kroger because the cashiers are bigger and thus better able to handle large bills?
