counting is overrated

I do think the Big 12 will either eventually get back to 12 teams, if it lasts that long

But where do the two teams come from? And who wants to join that league if the world knows that every other conference is gunning to take members from it?

I think it is doomed, if not now than eventually.

I actually take that back now, I think the Big 12 will stay at 10 teams, cause from what I've heard today the coaches hated having a championship game for football, so I now think they will stay at 10. Also I believe I heard someone say in the new TV contract they'll have the 10 remaining schools agreed that they wouldn't leave.

counting is still overrated though

If they want to get back to 12 teams I would not be surprised to see them add 2 out of TCU, Boise, or Utah. All 3 are programs that are more than worthy of the Big 12 (in football at least).

Heck, adding 2 of those 3 in the place of Colorado & Nebraska probably makes it a better football conference!

Texas and Oklahoma now have "1-game schedules" for the Conference title. Neither school has to play a big time road game. Stillwater, Lawrence and Columbia just don't strike that much fear in the 'Horns or Sooners. Without a conference title game, the game in the Cotton Bowl should decide the conference title nine years out of ten.

They will also find that ending a week early will kill their buzz in a BCS title hunt. They need a champ. game especially if they have a 3 way tie.

I guess I never thought that having a Conference Championship Game was mandatory...I just thought you couldn't have one with less than 12 teams. Does the MAC HAVE to hold a Conference Championship game?

If they can get to 12 teams, they will. They won't leave the money on the table, and the Big Ten just finished expanding so they could play a title game.

The good thing in this, is that if the major conferences all have title games, then it adds more weight against the prospect of a playoff.

The Big 12 won't go to twelve teams. There's no one that they can add that will increase their television revenue enough to make a difference.

As far as leaving dollars on the table for the Championship Game, they're better off splitting the TV money and BCS money 10 ways that adding the championship and splitting it 12 ways.
