Back to football:
I think the way that The Big 12 reached (sold) out to Texas is ridiculous. It's what drove some the teams to look elsewhere, and it's what will cause them to do the same in the near future.
The Big 12 is now the Big 2/Little 8: competitively and financially.

The slower it goes the better for us. Gives us time to hopefully be proactive.SB-50 wrote:Back to football:

He is right. Later, or sooner, but the center can't hold. Texas will create its TV network, because it is easier to do that now, than as part of a Big Ten/SEC/PAC-12 setup. Whomever so wants to attract them will have to deal with that as an established fact, not as a possibility to prevent.

Re: Conference realignment benefitting us
If Texas has an established TV network and is making more money than they could make in the PAC 10 or Big 10 or SEC through that, why would they ever switch to another conference. Even if some teams want to leave the Big 12 for what they deem as a more lucrative or fair contract, that does not force Texas's hand. Those teams can be replaced with teams who are not making the kind of money that would be offered. The level of opponent may go down but why would that matter to Texas if they are still making the same kind of money. In a sense Texas would be like ND but have a conference around them.NWLB wrote:He is right. Later, or sooner, but the center can't hold. I'm saying that I believe it is easier at this point, for Texas to get anything it wants from the Big 10/12 than trying to do it after a conference change.
