Any updates on the arena renovations?

Post by BGSU33 »

I don't following BG hockey nearly as close as I do football, basketball and baseball, but does anyone have any updates or photos of how things are progressing at the ice arena? From what I understand, much of the work won't be visable to the casual fan or spectator, but I still wondered how things were going with it?
GO BG!!!

The outside of the building has been cleaned, no more black streaks. The studio ice was removed and is curently being converted into new locker rooms, the old tennis locker rooms are being updated. The storage area on the S. End of the former Studio ice has been opened up into an entrance with glass doors (when you enter from that point you can see the S end of the rink. The Zamboni room is not being relocated, a door that opens to the Hall of Fame has been added to allow the zamboni to maintain the new small sheet of ice that replaced the old curling rink. The fish bowl portion of the curling rink has been removed, the floor has been set, and the ceiling work appears to have come along. The Dehumidifier, ice plant etc are all being replaced. The roof maintained and new gutter system installed...
All the work to my under standing is on schedule.

I was by the rink today and while I avoided my pull to go inside, there were workers working every where and I figured best to let them be. I could see that the new roof, a top the main ice appears to better than 1/2 completed, and judging by the steamers, the hall of fame roof is being worked on as well.

What time were you there? I was inside talking with the coach from around 10 to 11:30 or so. I haven't gone into the rink area since I first went in a few weeks after they started!

Speaking of the coach...I am SOOOOO excited for this season to get started!!! This guy is VERY committed to getting us back on top. He wants to win championships...PERIOD!!! And he only wants kids here who want to win championships AND are willing to put in the work to make it happen each and every day! His intensity and belief in what he wants, what he expects and what he believes will happen here is so exciting to hear!! We all know (him included) that the proof will be when that team hits the ice. He can't wait to get started with this team to prove to everyone that we CAN and WILL have a winner here!!

GO HOCKEY!!!

"BG was relentless. It's like they know that a good first pass on the breakout from a defenseman will almost always result in an odd-man rush against them - but they go in anyway and dare you to make that pass. All three of their goals were just grit and effort. That's a team any fan can be proud to support...they give all they've got."

Nothing really new to add other than it's on-time and under budget.

I pulled in about 730 am, and we left around noon. I gave consideration to poking my head in and seeing who was around, but felt I should let them get their heads around the new season for now.

Walked through the rink yesterday. Lots of work done since I was last in there. New locker rooms are looking great! Seems weird not having that viewing area that was next to the curling ice area. Overall, it's going to be a MUCH better, muli-use facility!!! :supz:

h2o, I know you not serious (but you ARE serious about Cross being serious!), but let me add that Chris Bergeron may be one of the most focused and dedicated coaches I have been around. Hasn't coached a game, but we can absolutely know one thing: coach will hold everyone- starting with himself- to a very high standard in all areas of the Falcon hockey program.

I have complete confidence in this staff in all matters off ice- priorities could not be clearer.

Go Falcons!

One thing you heard about Bergeron coming in was his intensity. As long as he can find that perfect balance between creativity and structure he'll be very successful here.

Just wanted to check in and say it seems the HOGO was another success this year. Was it just me or did we see more of the recent grads this year than year's past?
