Once again we can all be proud of Notre Dame......NOT!!

Apparently 11 Fighting Irish athletes arrested after police responded to a call about a "fight" taking place near the road and happened to find a bunch of drinking Irishmen lol. Although alot of big names were called one caught my attention which was incoming Freshman goalie Summerhays....Interested to see what happens with this kid this year. Notre Dame is known for not putting up with this crap...

From what I've seen so far, I'm pretty sure I how Bergeron would handle a situation like this. That said, I DO know that the current students and the incoming freshman will CLEARLY understand his stance on these types of choices for behavior! There will be NO DOUBT, NONE, NADA, about where he stands and what will happen to them from day one!!

It's like they know that a good first pass on the breakout from a defenseman will almost always result in an odd-man rush against them - but they go in anyway and dare you to make that pass. All three of their goals were just grit and effort. That's a team any fan can be proud to support...they give all they've got."

Not mentioned in the ESPN article was the fact that 8 incoming freshman hockey players were arrested!!
Here's the USCHO article on the same event:

Jeff Jackson has always been a pretty relaxed guy (My favorite story from some of the media members was that after one game he actually changed into sweatpants and a sweatshirt to be more comfortable). But, having half of your team going through legal issues reeks of a coach who isn't holding his players responsible for their actions.

"Despite the damage, the 6,000 seat building is scheduled to open on time -- on October 30 when the Fargo Force of the United States Hockey League faces Sioux Falls. On November 2, the concert will host its first concert when Jewel performs"

Perhaps they were simply trying to get the Jewel concert cancelled. That might even give solid justification to their actions. :finga:

BGDrew....you're assesment of Jeff Jackson being laid back is quite the opposite of the truth. He is in fact one of the more rigid coaches in college hockey. Let's not forget that 18 year olds make mistakes and sometimes you have to investigate the facts before you just boot kids off the team. I'm sure Coach Jackson and Notre Dame will handle the situation. Let's just hope Coach Bergeron isn't forced to deal with any of these situations anytime soon.

About the underage drinking. Umm yeah its bad press but doesn’t mean these guys are bad guys. There's some athletes (college and pro) we hear about doing way more extreme things.

http://www.und.com/sports/m-hockey/spec ... arena.html

Slightly off-topic but I was checking out the Notre Dame Ice Arena today and I think some planners must have been drinking when they started planning this.

First its not going to be open til mid-Oct 2011. It probably would have been better to start construction a bit sooner so it was ready for mid Sept 2011. That would give UND players a time to learn their new home ice and get to use it before the season starts.

Second, I was under the impression the main ice sheet would be Olympic (200'x100') but it looks like it will be the auxiliary rink and main ice arena sheet will be 200'x90'. I think it would have been better if both were same dimensions.

The first thing I think of when I look at that video is "Why is Yost being moved to Notre Dame?"

Also, Kyle Palmieri has apparently been booted from the team and signed a contract with the Ducks: http://ducks.nhl.com/club/news.htm?id=535445

You beat me to it, I just saw the Palmieri headline.

I like the arena design. It matches the character of Notre Dame and some of the other buildings on campus.

Ruth and Cole left early and now Palmieri. The team has lots of talent still and new incoming freshmen talent but still those three are a bit of a dent. Did Palmieri get booted or just decided to leave? Booted makes sense b/c he had a respectable fr. season (9g, 8a in 33 games) but if he wasn’t booted going back to Notre Dame and improving those numbers would have been better.

Thought the same thing when I saw the link

So he signed with my team, I no longer have any issues with Mr. Palmieri :-D

Tinordi, Montreal Canadiens' first-round pick and freshman blueliner for the Irish is going to the London Knights (OHL).

Oh and btw he was one of the few Fr. not to be arrested for :drinkers: :partyman:
